IPX7 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker, J&L-12A Portable Wireless Bluetooth Outdoor Speaker with High-Definition Sound Quality & Superior Bass (Army Green)

I really love J&L products, but this speaker was not the J&L quality I was expecting. I have another speaker from J&L that has absolutely amazing sound quality and I was expecting much the same with this product. However, like other speakers on Amazon this speaker makes this weird buffering noise when listening to it on low volumes. It’s almost like you turned on the AM radio to listen to music. When using it on loud songs you won’t notice much of a difference, but when listening to it on volumes that are quite low the noise is very audible (see video).In the box you get a speaker that kind of reminds me of a hand grenade and accompanying basic accessories. It’s a very masculine shaped speaker and I don’t say this often about any speakers. We’ve tested this speaker for quite a while, here is what we found.Battery Life:We continuously played Spotify on the Macbook Air while connected to this speaker through bluetooth and it lasted approximately a little over 9 hours before the voice started saying battery low. At that point we turned it off. This is 1 hour longer than the advertised battery life of 6-8hours. A+ for the battery life.Power bank battery life:This speaker is set apart from other speakers on Amazon because of its power bank feature, however does this speaker really replace the traditional power banks? The answer is no. We charged the Android HTC Evo 4g LTE phone from 22 percent to 61 percent before the speaker said low battery. This was after having the speakers fully charged. The HTC Evo phone only has a 2000 mAh battery since the speaker was only able to add an additional 39 percent of charge it makes this speakers as a power bank pretty useless. Not unless it’s really urgent and even 5 percent of charge means the world. The specification does say that the power bank is 1450mAh Battery which is not that big for a speaker of that size. I would not recommend buying this speaker for its power bank capabilities.Sound quality:As I’ve mentioned earlier, the sound quality is good only when the volume is super high otherwise at lower levels you can hear noise. It’s pretty annoying. If you can overcome that noise then the sound quality is pretty good. The speaker is also super loud.Overall, I’m giving this speaker 4 stars because of the sound issue and the power bank being meh. There’s definitely some improvements that can be made with this product. I do love the concept of having a power bank and speaker, but with this speaker the concept was not properly executed.Disclosure: I received the J&L-12A Portable Wireless Bluetooth to test quality and provide honest feedback.

A reasonably priced Bluetooth speaker that puts out good sound for its size. Although it didn't produce as much sound as I would have hoped, it will still be sufficient for use in most applications I have need for. I haven't tried using using it to charge another device but I could see a few cases where that would be a valuable feature; for example when camping if your cell phone runs out of battery and you have an emergency like a bear attack or someone eats the wrong wild mushrooms. Pairing over Bluetooth works very well and this has excellent range, but there are still situations in which I would like to have the option to connect a regular audio jack but there is no such connection on this speaker so you have to use Bluetooth all the time.

Ok.....I don't like it. It's made of plastic.Sound: Even using the EQ on (Mixzing) app the sounds ok, but not great. It's not loud as the smaller better sounding, 4 watt, (Divoom Voombox Travel)....And this speaker claims to have 5 watts?Build: The whole speaker is made of plastic and rubber. It's slightly bigger than the Divoom Voombox Travel. But the woofers are the same size as the Divoom Voombox Travel. The Divoom Voombox Travel has a better build quality..."Metal and rubber" and more rugged.I posted to sell this speaker on Craigslist within 5 minutes of using it.

I purchased both this speaker and the IXP5 speaker which is a little larger. Although I loved the sound and everything about the IXP5, this speaker fell a little short. It's hard to turn up and down the volume as the buttons don't seems to function as well as they could, and there isn't as much sound in these speakers as the IXP5. If I had my choice I'd definitely go with the bigger speaker for sure.

It comes with a handy carrying case which makes it great for life on the go---and it has earbuds and your charging cord.When you have the speaker charged up and ready to go, just press the power button and it TALKS TO YOU, telling you that it is on and ready to pair. When you are paired with your device, it lets you know, and when you power it off it tells you that it is powering off. Nice feature.If you are looking for a speaker that gives you a great sound but also helps you stay charged and ready for your day, this is something to seriously consider.
