Crown Bees Mason Bee Holes Wood Tray, Medium

Wanted to expand my homemade Mason Bee nesting boxes and splurged on a Crown Bees Wood Hole Tray. This company knows their stuff. This nest hole tray is easy to maintain and clean. Bear in mind, you should have an enclosed wood box to set this unit in to protect your Mason Bees and the nest tray from the weather. It is wood and may warp if exposed to the elements. It is helpful to number both sides of the nest tray so it will go back together exactly after you harvest the cocoons and clean the unit for next spring. If you want to help our native bees, please consider this type of nesting box. Please do not buy the drilled holes in a block of wood. Those are OK for one nesting season, but cannot be maintained and cleaned. You will end up with parasites and harming the bees. You could drill your own blocks of wood (natural, untreated only!) each year, but this nesting tray is well worth the price for many years of use.

Have them set up in houses I built for them.Got them too late for buying bees, but I'll order some next yr.We used to have lots of mason bees, don't know where they went.Depending on Bumbles & a few miner bees right now, and the bumbles are also in decline.Too many around using bee-killing chemicals I guess.

Two of the trays had a crack going all the way through in the areas where there is a knot in the wood. You can see through. Other then that they seem to be of good quality. I opted to not bother returning it. I don't think the cracks will effect it to much. If it does it would effect 5 holes. Can't wait to see how it works as this will be my first year with mason bees.

The craftsmanship on these trays looks good. Price good especially the shipping charges. Can't wait to get them up in the spring.

Great block for the bees. This is the third large block we've purchased and the mason bees are filling up the holes as we speak! Good quality. Lasted through the winter outside in Oregon.

This thing is just cool.
