Apparently this is the receiver which plugs into your laptop/computer.. is there a usb midi sender that plugs into my keyboard without the 5 pin din?

This pairs nicely with the Yamaha UD-BT01 which is available on Amazon. You send midi via usb into it and you plug it into a usb power source. It can be a wall adapter or a rechargeable battery bank. The Yamaha needs power and won’t get it from the midi controller via usb. The usb out on your controller is probably usb b so you’ll need a usb b to a cable (think a printer cable) as well.

Doesn't the xkey already have everything needed to plug and play wireless when u get the bt version?

The xkey wireless keyboard does but Windows computer doesn't. This CME Widi provides Windows with both an ultralow latency Bluetooth connection and also a midi channel so that your DAW or VST standalone software can see it and connect through the Widi to your Xkey.

Will this connect with the alesis wireless vortex 2? thanks for your help!

The WIDI Bud is a Bluetooth MIDI receiver. Therefore if the Alesis wireless vortex 2 sends out a Bluetooth MIDI Signal then the WIDI Bud will connect to your USB Device to allow your USB device to accept the Alesis Wireless Vortex's bluetooth MIDI Signal. Any other questions - please let us know.

Does this work properly with iOS devices?

You do not neeD this with ios, it's built in to the operating system.
