Red glaze peels right off
Lovely design but the quality is very poor. I have had at least five of these over the years and have had issues with all of them. No more.Customer service is useless and of no help. There are other feeders that are just as nice and hopefully will last more than one season. Big boo.

Very attractive
Love this hummingbird feeder, and so do the birds! It's easy to fill and very pretty. I only rinse it out in hot water to clean. Other reviewers have mentioned that the color comes off if rubbed with a cleaning brush, so I don't do that. I actually ordered another Schrodt feeder that is just like this one, but with a different design. This way the birds don't fight so much. I would recommend this product!

beautiful but doesn't last
This was beautiful when I got it, but a year later the red inside comes off when it is washed with a bottle washer and the wood is starting to split. Still it's the prettiest on the market and I'll buy it again, but the clear one this time.

Beautiful product.
Beautifully made. It's not quite hummingbird season here but it will be going out in a few weeks. I am really impressed with it.

Highest marks on all counts -- including durability.
We own this model Schrodt -- hard to recall when or where we purchased it. It was _at least_ 10 years ago and wasn't from Amazon.com. I unhesitatingly recommend this line of feeders to any and all who ask. The design complements just about any surrounding architecture (including a tree). While the frost of the etching has faded a bit, the wooden parts, metal feeder disk, and the glass have all held up beautifully. Our hummer season here in NH runs from May 1 to Labor Day. During these months, the feeder is in direct sun for perhaps 7-8 hours daily. We do our part by cleaning it with a bottle brush for the reservoir and an old toothbrush for the feeding tray components. This should be done every 5-6 days during the summer when changing the food. If this rigorous schedule isn't adhered to, there will be something akin to wisps of algae that form in the food. We use a 1:4 mix of granulated white sugar to water, heated just to a boil, and with no food coloring ever (pointless in a ruby red bottle, anyway). I may have put linseed oil on the wooden parts once or twice when putting the feeder away from the winter. This line isn't inexpensive, but the feeders will last, be a pleasure to look at, and (most importantly) they work to the great enjoyment of our little feathered friends with the long tongues.
