I so wanted to love this!
We had a very heavy steel umbrella base for our deck table. It was a monster to carry into the basement in the winter and it always left a bit of rust stains on the composite deck that was annoying to clean up. This plastic base has a great handle to carry it by, it's lighter than the previous base and it does not leave rust stains.BUT the umbrella has been pulled over by breezes that would not have fazed the previous umbrella stand. The result was an overturned table, chair and the umbrella ended up against the deck railing.Further the previous umbrella stand had a 10" steel pipe that came from the center of the base and had two thumbscrews to hold the umbrella tightly. This one has one thumbscrew that is not rock-solid secure in the base and has no vertical pipe which apparently had a lot to do with the stability of the previous base. When it is slightly breezy I now have to fold the umbrella up or it will slowly lean and threaten to topple the table. We have a feral cat who likes to lounge in the shade of the umbrella on hot sunny days but he's lost that because I can't trust the umbrella to stay put without being outside to watch it. Sadly this base is not very good for my purposes nor can I recommend it for anyone who has anything more than the gentlest of breezes in their area. I really did want to love this !It needs a wider base, a sturdy steel pole 8 to 12" high to really secure the umbrella and provide it with enough rigidity to stay upright AND it should be heavier. The best part is it doesn't leave rust stains on my deck.

Prefilled cement umbrella base, durable and convenient
I bought this umbrella weight to hold a market umbrella for a patio table. I love the fact that it comes pre-filled so I don't have to worry about trying to stuff it full of sand or cement, has a convenient carrying handle, and a screw to hold the pole in place once it's installed. I only gave it 4 stars because I have not yet used it, so I cannot vouch for it's efficiency at this time, however it looks like exactly what I needed. I live on the water in Florida, and we get some occasional gusts, I'm hoping this 50 lb weight should be enough to hold the umbrella study on my patio table. It arrived in a very short period of time, in great condition, and I'm looking forward to spending evenings out on my patio under my new umbrella!

Still standing after 70mph gusts of wind
I live in a place with high winds, so it was important to me that my umbrella base wouldn't let my patio umbrella fall over when the winds roll through. Yesterday we had a storm with wind gusts reaching 70mph, and this base did not budge! All our other patio furniture was all over the yard, but the patio table stayed. Very pleased.Took off 1 star only because of the pin on the bottom - since there is only 1 pin to secure the umbrella in place, when the umbrella is open and some wind comes through, the umbrella rotates, which is annoying if you have it tilted just right to block the sun.

Heavy & Durable - Just say no to levitating patio tables.
This stand may not be pretty, but it's the first one I have owned that can sustain winds. We have had a few cold fronts move through with winds between 20-30 mph and the table stayed in place. All the stands I have owned in the past would just "go with the flow." If we forget to put the umbrella down I don't have to fear I'll walk in the backyard later and find it all levitated across the yard, propelled itself in a neighbors home. I am impressed. It is very heavy and ready to use. I am sure my UPS cursed me bringing it from the truck to my front porch. NOTE: I wouldn't use this as a stand alone. I do believe it needs to be used with a table that has the hole down the center.

Buy the less expensive Black and spray the plastic to match your deck if you dont care for the black.
I noticed our cement patio runs away from the house, makes sense. After putting our patio umbrella in the stand, I noticed it leaned towards our side street. I first thought it was tipping because of the weight, but no its the grading, so I just put a little shim (actually metal washers on one side) and it now looks nice and straight, this baby holds even in high wind, of course we crack the umbrella into the closed position, why have a kite blowing in the wind. This is about 50 pounds and holds great, I ordered the black because is less expensive then colors or white, I didn't even pay attention the umbrella pole is also black, but the canopy is tan. Looks good work great

Arrived a little busted, but it does the job.
Plastic was a bit broken when it got here, but it's filled with concrete and does its job right. The handle on the side is nice. We've had a few storms, and our umbrella went nowhere, so far so good.

Great Umbrella Base!
This will definitely keep the patio umbrella in place! I only wish it had an inner ring for the screw to tighten up against when the umbrella is inserted. First season with this and the ABBA umbrella, which I love! Love the blue color of the umbrella, just looks like a beautiful sky on a summer's day.I read many reviews on umbrella bases and felt that at 50 pounds, it wasn't blowing over. I feel that it will help protect my umbrella investment.

Quality product, 50 lbs, and free shipping!
Item arrived either previously used or slightly damaged. Opening in top which receives umbrella pole was slightly misshapen, but with a little pressure my 1.5-inch diameter umbrella pole was able to fit, albeit snugly. However, this appears to be a good quality item at a good price. Like a previous reviewer, I was simply amazed that I could get it shipped free. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase.

Weight of base is good, however
Weight of base is good, however, feel that if it had a "shaft" projecting upward in base it would help keep umbrella more stable. Great if there is no wind but if windy does not support the umbrella enough - if you are fortunate enough to be in a non-windy area it would be really good.

Great umbrella base, simple and efficient
Very nice product. Heavy enough, holds the umbrella well. My house gets a lot of wind and the umbrella has stayed put.

Good choice
This is much more compact than our previous umbrella stand, so it takes up less room on the balcony.
