I bought this bird house as a security measure to hold a back-up key. I added some additional "decoration" so it appeared more home-made and less conspicuous to thieves (see photos). I used the metal grate included at an angle on the birdhouse to try to discourage any "guests" and put the key under the grate. (as you can see, the key is still easily accessible)This birdhouse works so well, that I've had 3 different nests being built as eager new bird "homeowners" wanted to claim this little mansion as their own. The first two nests I cleaned out, because I had anticipated that this would be simply for holding my key. But after the 3rd nest, I gave up, realizing that I would rarely need to get in there to get my key anyway, and I might as well have renters through the spring and clean it out when they've flown the nest.These birds know good quality. This birdhouse is well built, easy access, looks great and I can attest to the fact that it's darn easy to clean! I highly recommend it (but I also think it's fun to add some more decorations of your own to the house - or let your kids work their magic on it.)

I was looking for Christmas presents for the kids that they could paint. These birdhouses are wonderful! They are really cute, made well, and very sturdy. I bought 2 varieties so the siblings had their own. All the equipment to hang them is included. They are easy to open and clean out. I literally read hundreds of birdhouse reviews. Most of the birdhouse kits for kids to make were flimsy and would not last outdoors for long. So, I bought the finished birdhouses, then bought the paint for them to decorate them on their own. The kids loved them and can’t wait to paint and hang them outside. I love a product that lives up to the description.

This is a great birdhouse. Very well built and certainly worth the money. But, this birdhouse was too small for my birds. I will order a larger one made by the same company. Bettye

The time when I will place an unpainted birdhouse outdoors in the mountains of Northern New York state,(with winters that frequently drop to -30 F or colder) have long since passed. Having said that, this is a well-built and charming birdhouse. I love the clean-out door on one side (instead of the back) with a secure latch that is conveniently installed. I always use an exterior latex (water-based) paint and paint my birdhouses before putting them around the yard. The various colours scattered among the trees adds a little brightness to my wooded property and the colours do not discourage the birds from nesting. And my birdhouses last many years longer. But start with good design, good construction and a charming birdhouse like this one!

The birds are already making a nest and I thought it was past time.Love it!

With the housing market going crazy like it is, any little bird would think this little gem is a steal! It's got everything a little bird family could need: sturdy craftsmanship to keep the wind and rain out, mesh insert so Mama doesn't have to sit in her own mess, a vent at the peak (like central air for birdhouses), 2 ways to hang it so it can be placed in the perfect "neighborhood " (location, location, location!) and curb appeal--what an adorable little house!I bought two because I knew they'd be snatched up quickly by little birds who were ready to move up in their world to this higher standard of living. Get yours now while they're hot!
