Replacement 5DV 008 290-00 Xenon HID Ballast Headlight Control Unit Module Compatible with Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Saab, Land Rover, Ford - Warranty

So after almost two months of driving with one headlight because my mechanic couldn't figure out what was wrong then finally getting a ticket, I decided to just do it myself. I went to the dealer and told the parts guy that I had one headlight bulb working. He explained that either the ignitor or ballast could be bad so I should switch around the ignitors to make sure they were working. Did that, each ignitor worked on the functioning headlight. That left the ballast as the culprit. Found an amazing price on Amazon (dealer price was a few hundred more). It arrived the next day and I took on the project this morning. Had to remove the bumper to take out the headlight assembly get to the ballast underneath the assembly. Turns out that the ballast got soaked because there is a cap missing on the driver side fender liner. After installing the new ballast I hooked it up and turned it on the headlights to be sure. It felt like the brightest light I have seen in months!! Worked perfectly!! If you're willing to take on the project and invest an hour in the process, do it your damn self and save the money. If I had done it with the dealer and mechanic it would have cost me almost $600. By getting the part and doing it myself it only cost me $53.98 and an hour. I'll take that over a $600 mechanic bill any day!!!! Same product without the high price tag. I'll update if it fails but it's looking good so far. UPDATE: March 24, 2020: Still working perfectly!!!!!

The product came quickly. The module fit perfectly and worked. Great valve for the money. As for Sheerness I’m confused. I look up in the dictionary and came up with this: Sheerness a port and resort in SE England, in N Kent at the junction of the Medway estuary and the Thames: administratively part of Queenborough in Sheppey since 1968 As for thickness it was the same size as original module so I guess that’s good?

My baluster arrived quickly and it worked perfectly once I installed it. I would recommend it to my friends.

The replacement works great. It was a direct swap with the old one. My previous one failed (ordered a little over a year ago), and GenXenon happily and easily replaced it. They also reached out later to also make sure everything was working well with the replacement -- great customer service!

They don't last too long. If you are lucky they will survive at least 2 years

Keep in mind that most ballast failures are from headlights leaking, so if you don't fix the underlying problem, the unit will get water from the bad headlight enclosure, Water damage caused by a leaky headlight is not covered by warranty. Use Morimoto retro rubber to open, clean and reseal your headlight.

My headlight went out I changed the bulb which didn’t work. Research it could be the ballast, igniter or a fuse. Fuse was okay so I decided to buy this.
