SRV8 Realistic SuperCar V8 Engine Sound Effects

Product came on time. It was in great condition as mentioned in ad and it works thus far very good! Sometiomes its hard to set the V8 sound right & it gets boring after a few minutes but you can also listen to MP3 music through it if you have a MP3 Player and its very clear most times I listen to my music.

Did not work as advertised. Seemed to have a mind of its own. Don't bother.

First of all, I have a 4 cyclinder sports car with a killer sound system. With the top down and the sound up, it sounds like it's coming from the engine.The device is simple to plug in, calibrate and use. It tracks my RPMs perfectly.Warning, if you do NOT have a GREAT sound system, do not buy this. I turned the bass all the way down and it just does not have the same effect.

The SoundRacer is the future in my opinion. As cars continue to be more efficient, the sound quality of their engines will decrease. As soon as the package arrived I darted for my car like a giddy child with a new toy. First thing I noticed is that the SoundRacer does not tune to very low FM frequencies as advertised on the box. I had a low-static station preselected (like 87.6 or something) and that the SoundRacer would not tune that low. No worries, easy fix. After selecting a new station I read the instructions. Instructions... really didn't say much. Basically all I needed to know was rev the engine to 2500-3000 RPMs and get set to go. After driving around for a few months I'd say I'm overall satisfied with this futuristic prototype of emulated engines to be.Pros:* Nothing is more satisfying than passing a V6 engine car in a V4 Corolla with the windows rolled down, sunglasses on, and "engine" running at max volume. It feels amazing and leaves onlookers bewildered.* People frequently ask about the engine. I have my SRacer hidden in another cigarette lighter in my car. Nobody knows. I just tell them that I work on my car often and found a way to increase the engines power. For the average Joe, they tend to believe. Just... don't try this on somebody who's car swa've. They'll obviously know better.* The engine sounds amazing at high speeds. Excellent job on emulating the sounds.Cons:* Biggest con is how the "Engine" occasionally sounds off for no reason. Possibly my fault at calibration or perhaps it's the device not being able to read the revs correctly. In any case, it does happen about 5% of the time, especially when slowing down. Nothing's more embarrassing than being at a stop light, with the windows down, and cars all around and your SRacer decides to rev the engine and get stuck with the rev. Or when slowing down the SRacer gets stuck at 1500 revs for no reason.* Setting up the engine every time I start the car gets annoying. I wish it would just calibrate and stick that way.* Pain In The A** Calibration. If you don't get it right the first time, you have to remove the device and start all over. It becomes a pain again, but eventually you start to get it down. Sucks that the device doesn't have a reset switch.* Idling sounds funny. My final and second biggest complaint would be the idle. It honestly sounds... off. When my car drops the RPMs to a certain point when slowing down the idling of the SRacer sounds weird. This is a problem again with calibration. It's trying to find that Goldylocks zone. If you calibrate the SRacer too low, usually it does this. Not a big concern, but it does get bothersome when I realize I've done it.Overall:I really like this device and would recommend it to anyone. When I upgrade my car to a stronger engine in the future, I'll probably gift it to a friend or my brother. Pass on the technology. And when gas prices eventually become unbearable, I'll probably go back to a more fuel efficient car and by yet another one of these. Avoid the accidental miscalibration and having to remove the thing to start over?Why not add memory to the device? Avoid having to calibrate the "engine" everytime at startup?Why not combine all 3 engines into one? Have variety? I'd pay an extra 20 for it!Keep improving it! While it's an awesome toy, it's not perfect. Sounds could always be made to be more realistic. The electronics could always be worked on to better detect the electricity in the revs of the engine. Don't stop here! :)

Seems to be well built. Works ok. If you leave it plugged in all the time you have to reset it every time you start your car. The sounds are pretty good. It seems like it doesn't match up with my engine just right. They say in the instructions to set it at a different number of rpms if it doesn't. I did that but when I slow down to a stop it sometimes goes a little wild. It is to be understood though, being that it picks up your alternator.It also faded out very quickly. It seemed fun for the first 1/2 hour or so I had it. Now it just lives in my glove box. Great technology but for the price I wish I hadn't bought it. I could have bought something else that I would have gotten more use out of.I guess in all, if you have a lot of money and nothing to do with it, or you need a gift for someone and have no other ideas of what to get them this would be a good buy. It does bring a few giggles when someone hears it for the first time.

The best way to describe this product is touchy. It does track Rpm pretty well, however it relies on alternator pulse signal which in most cars nowadays is modified from engine rpm. What that means is the alternator may be putting out 14v but that can be at a lower rpm than some older cars used to put out. My 2010 VW Jetta TDI would cause the Soundracer to hold the revs longer even though i had let the clutch out and was shifting gears. It tracked slow, but maybe for a gasoline car that doesn't have a fancy electronic supply system it would do well.

I bought this as a gift for my nephew's 20th birthday. But before I gave it to him I had 3 days to test it out. I wanted to make sure it worked, having read some negative reviews. It worked beautifully and I could not stop laughing as I revved the hell out of my poor old Honda CR-V just to hear it transformed into a hot rod V-8. I took several friends for a ride just to see them crack up. I even took my computer guy for a ride after he fixed my network problem. He loved it and wanted one for himself.Because you are hearing the effect on your speakers, it's kind of like your own little inside secret too, which added to the fun factor. To the outside world, I was in a mild mannered Clark Kent Honda. But inside, I was driving a Pontiac GTO Suuuuuperman with no muffler. I even took this gizmo to work one day when we had to take a road trip and stuck it in the company van, which is anything but a hot rod. Big laughs and a fun drive.The only bad thing about it is that you do tend to thrash the guts out of your manual transmission just to hear it rev through your stereo speakers. Long term use could be hard on the engine and the speakers. But it sure makes driving fun again. My nephew loved it as well and I got major brownie points for getting it for him. He had never heard of it or seen one before so it was great to see his reaction.

I bought this for my brother who drives a Ford E250 Van. He put it in his car tuned to proper frequency and it sounded HORRIBLE not even close to what was advertised. This is a BRAND new Van with a nice stereo in it for listening to music. Sounds great with the other stations...
