Stanley the Ugly Duckling VHS

I LOVED this movie when I was little. And when I saw it I knew I had to get it for my collection. I recently had a baby and I couldn't wait to share it with her. When I got it I watched with the same enthusiasm I had when I was a kid, but then as I watched further I realized how irresponsible it could be without parental supervision. Don't get me wrong, it's a kids film, but there are some risque pieces in there..smoking, vandalism and womanizing...of course the overall message to the movie is to not do these bad things and to like yourself not to do those things, but they are pretty forward and hidden inside of some catchy and fun loving music....Def get it..It's good story but remember to watch it the first few times with the kids so you can answer questions and invoke your opinion on some of the issues.

I have three children 23, 15, and 9. The 23 yr old received this movie originally when he was 5 and it was watched (no exageration) hundreds of times - some days up to 5 times!! LOL He loved it! It was then passed to the middle child - he watched it continuously as well. By the time kid number 3 arrived the movie was worn out and would not play. Her two older brothers told little sis all about the movie and how awesome it was and actually quoted several entire scenes!! She wanted to see it as well. Imagine my joy when I actually had enough brains to search online for it and found it! Same case cover and everything. I thought about getting the DVD but chose the VHS instead because of nostalgia! The movie is going under the Christmas tree this Christmas Eve as a surprise for all 3 kids!!!

Love the movie! I's a classic! It's a great movie to reinforce a positive self image. However, the quality is not that great. It obviously was recorded from a TV format because you can tell where the commercials were edited out. Everyone still loves Stanley, though!!

My kids truly enjoyed watching this as children, to the point that it was worn out! Since I found this on dvd, I thought I would purchase it for old times sake (and hopefully, one day, grandchildren to watch).

This video i bought after i watched the Ugly duckling in Disney's timeless tales series ... i always loved the story, but this video was very disappointing ... the kids hated it, they never watch it ... i am glad i did not pay a lot in this video ...

My wife would tell me about this old cartoon that she would watch with her Mum as a child. It was on VHS then and they still have the tape, but no player.I thought it would be nice to source a copy for them both to watch.My wife loved it, tells me it is just as she remembered.Of course this is a region 1 DVD, which wasn’t a problem for us as I intended to put it on our Plex server anyway. I just briefly changed the region on my computers DVD drive and we were able to watch the movie.

this is a really old classic childrens dvd, its great for the kids and a good short family film.The children enjoyed it and so did granny!

it will not load in and just comes up with wnrong region on the tv why no stars can i give
