Typical of OXO: Another excellent kitchen helper.
I thought I already knew how to poach eggs without difficulty, but this product makes it super easy. I break an egg in a water glass, and I recommend adding a tad of vinegar to the egg in the glass before you put the egg in the egg hopper. This will easily hold your white together. Three minutes in boiling water, and you'll have a perfectly poached egg. Enjoy!

Very close to perfection
I could not understand the 4.2 average review rating. So I read the AI summary. There are some valid points. They are rather large, if they were a little bit smaller I could fit three in my pot. Yes the holes are probably larger than they need to and yes some of the egg whites leak out through the holes. If there were smaller holes and if the Bell was smaller could it be improved? Probably. I thought I could make a better egg poacher myself, but after a few failed attempts, I realized I would stick with this one because it works quite well. In my experience, 3 minutes and 30 seconds - 4 minutes turns out a nice soft poached egg yolk with all the whites cooked. Yummy!

Almost perfect...makes nice poached eggs, minus a bit.
Works 95% perfectly...some egg white gets stuck in the bottom container though. You need your fingers to find and remove the parts trapped in the base of the outer container. No biggie!

Good idea but too large
The base of these poachers is 3.75 inches in diameter. Standard large eggs will normally not spread out that much when carefully dropped into barely simmering water without any poacher. The result is that the shape of the poached egg is somewhat flattened rather than coming out closer to a spherical shape. It's about the same shape as using no poacher. If the base were much smaller in diameter that would help keep shape of the egg closer to being, well, egg-shaped. There's really no advantage to using these if you already know how to poach two eggs together without them. The large size of the base also means you need to use a much larger pot just to poach two eggs together. And a larger pot means a longer wait time to reach a boil or simmer. Updated 6/13/2022: These work best for frying eggs. The advantage they have over egg rings is that they cover the egg while it's frying. Steam gets partially trapped by lower part with the holes and cooks the top side of the egg. After 30-45 seconds of frying on medium-high heat, so the eggs are bubbling, they are set well enough to prevent the whites from running. At that point the poachers can be removed and a lid place on the pan to finish cooking off heat for perfect sunny side up fried eggs. It also helps to first filter the eggs through a fine mesh strainer to remove the watery parts of the whites before frying them. This is the same trick to I've used to poach eggs without ending up with strings of egg white. The egg white sticks together better in the water if you first remove the watery part of the whites using a fine mesh strainer.

Best poaching tool I’ve found
I found these to be great, probably the best egg poaching tool I’ve tried. Def better than those little silicon cups. Agree with reviews that they are a little large, so you can only fit two in a large pot. You also need a reasonably deep pot, not a smaller sauce pan. But the result was flawless!

Finally!
I am a chef and thought I made poached eggs as well as anybody. I do. However, this poaching set is a marvel of consistency. Imagine perfect every single time. The people who developed this should win the Red Dot Design Award of the year. Perhaps the best thing about this is you don't have to watch the eggs while they cook. Toast the bread-slice the avocado-butter the toast and when your watch timer buzzes at 3 minutes plate the perfectly cooked and shaped eggs. Easy peasy.

Easy To Use; Works Great
This item was expensive for what it is, but I must admit that it worked great in easily and quickly preparing a poached egg. It is easy to clean and stores away compactly. Definitely recommend this item.

GREAT CONCEPT, BUT…
I appreciate Oxo's usual quality and attention to detail, which is why I was eager to try this product. After three attempts, following Oxo’s instructions explicitly, I returned the item for several reasons: 1) While not stated in Oxo’s instructions, I found that a Teflon-coated pan is recommended to avoid egg whites sticking to the bottom, even after removing the pan from heat after adding eggs. 2) Even with the addition of white vinegar, egg whites tended to separate, so the results did not resemble those depicted in Oxo’s product video. 3) Poaching eggs using this method proved to be time-consuming and messy and produced inconsistent results. On a positive note, I appreciated Oxo’s commitment to innovation. Overall, these issues made the product challenging to use and unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I hope this feedback is helpful for those who may be considering purchasing this item.

Consigliatissimi.

These things are magical!! Poached eggs are by far my favorite, I have a Dash steamer and although it makes amazing hard boiled eggs the poached (steamed in this case) is just so-so. I don’t have the knack for dropping the egg directly in the water as it tends to fall apart on me. I love these because I don’t have to separate the loose egg white, I can drop the whole egg in and it’s perfect every time. They are bigger than I expected, but that does not bother me at all.
