Rare combo for the price and great customer service
Good product and very rare combo of direct water and ice dispenser for a decent price. Warranty is even better, Jose at Whynter helped out and I received a replacement when the dispenser wasn't functioning correctly. I recommend this. Just like any machine it'll need maintenance (cleaning etc) but it overall convenient to have.

Mold! Can't clean. Do not buy!
I liked the dispenser buttons for water and ice. The install w/water line went well. It makes ice quickly.I did not like the bullet ice - both sizes melt too quickly. The ice maker is louder than our dishwasher. The ice bin only holds one large glass worth, so people had to wait at times. Oh yeah, I was surprised during install that this unit doesn't refrigerate the ice! The instructions mention it melts back into the water reservoir...fast forward a few months and we found mold! lots of it right after the return window closed. If you care about your health, don't buy this. Very disappointed.

Very loud fan
This thing makes ice quickly but doesn’t keep it stored (it melts and returns to the reservoir). And the fan/motor/compressor is very loud. I’m not sure that long term constant use is going to be feasible, but I don’t want it to sit and grow mold while not in use.I do like that it could be plumbed into a water supply and not refilled manually.Still trying to decide whether to keep before the return window closes.

Best Invention Ever.
I am a person who loves ice, weather it's in my sweet tea, water or Dr. Pepper. Unfortunately my city water tastes terrible and my only option is something that can accept bottled water. But, I was dead set on I wanted an ice maker that can dispense as well. This ice maker hits all the marks! Not only does it dispense ice, it also dispenses water! This one can be hooked up to house water, however I can not use that feature because of city water issues. I just add bottled water to it when it needs it. I have had issues which was easily resolved by contacting the company. Mariella with Whynter was an amazing help, answered any questions I had and remedied the situation to my liking. Shout out to her for going above and beyond. Very happy with this purchase.

Works good for limited option
I looked all over the internet for a direct connection water dispenser that sits on the counter and dispenses Ice. It turns out this is a market that is lacking in options so I found this machine and purchased. I have been using it for almost a year now. The machine stopped working about a month ago but the customer service was great at resolving the issue and getting me back up and running. I will note that the plastic taste that some other reviewers mentioned really never goes away but it has gotten better over time. My biggest complaint is that even tho the waterline connects directly, the water still collects in the basin on the machine and therefore still requires semi-frequent cleaning or you will get gunk built up in the basin (even with a filter). The machine is also pretty noisy for its size but also something you get used to.

Functional, but not perfect.
Unit works as described, but take note of several items. The Bad:1) The external casing is plastic, whereas the summary description might lead one to think it is metal.2) The unit is poorly insulated, if at all so ice melts rather quickly.3) The noise from the unit is rather disturbing; louder than a modern refrigerator.4) The ice is frozen within a water reservoir, which causes the ice to be somewhat soft and wet.5) The ice reservoir is not very large. It will fill about 2.5 glasses with ice. It would not work for a party.6) The instruction manual is written by someone who does not speak English, so it is a bit hard to decipher in places.7) As water is recycled indefinitely, fairly frequent cleaning would be recommended to prevent pathogen cultures from growing. The Good:1) It produces ice fairly quickly.2) It is very convenient.3) The controls are intuitive.4) One can feed an external water source to the unit.5) It works for those occasions where is no other convenient source of ice.

Whynter yet ice maker not packaged right.
I liked what I got. But the unit was packaged was turned upside down. The hermetic sealed compressor has oil inside of it. The oil can migrate through the system and damage the compressor. So I had to let set right side up for about 30 minutes to let oil settle for that time. The water level float was sitting in bottom of the water tank. The nut that holds it in place had come loose. Fortunately I got the nut to take hold and was ok. All is working great. Make ice. Thanks

Must of had a bad compressor unit
Received the product promptly the end of November 2022 and it was a gift for Christmas. A couple of days after Christmas, went to install the unit. Followed the instructions for installation and usage. Machine started the ice making process. 1-2 kernels of ice began accumulating in the ice tray within the suggested time frame that the machine should be expected to produce ice. No more ice was produced for the next 20-30 minutes. I unplugged the machine and let it "rest" overnight. Turned on the machine the next morning with the same results. Left the machine on for another 15 minutes and it began to produce an acrid smell like burning rubber. Unplugged the machine and discontinued use. Assumed the compressor unit was bad.Ended up buying a different unit from a different company.
