While the camera has fairly good resolution and focal length
While the camera has fairly good resolution and focal length, the rest is not so good.... The camera head itself is rather long and bulky, making it hard to maneuver in tight spots. The included mirror is poor quality - it really degrades the image. Lastly, the LED brightness control could just as well have been a switch - there is very very little adjustment. All on or all off basically. I have not taken it apart, but I suspect they just used a poteniometer, which is not the right way to dim LEDs. They send you lots of emails asking for your feedback and when you give it to them, they ignore you. I tried to make this right with them, but to no avail.UPDATE - My initial 2 star review has been changed to 1 star because after 2 uses, the camera quit working. This is a VERY poor product!

Junk
The GiraffeCam is okay for the price, but there area a couple of design flaws that keep it from being a great tool.First the camera lens is placed about 2mm behind the glass at the tip. When the LEDs area used the glass becomes a mirror causing glare around the image edges and causing the image to be over-saturated and in some situations all I can see is the reflection of the LEDs.Second the 6 LEDs are way overkill; 2 or three would have been enough. At full brightness the image is washed out and when adjusting the brightness there is a fine line between enough light and too much light.Updated 4/28/17:Camera no longer works after 4 uses over 10 days.

Not as expected
This is largely useless for its advertised purpose -- inspecting things in tight spaces. The problems are that the resolution is quite poor, and the image is magnified excessively, so the scale of items on the screen is completely off. Small objects appear huge, and largely objects are impossible to see in the entirety. It would be more useful it if it showed images on the phone screen at a natural, non-magnified scale. The amount of light put out by the LEDs is adjustable with a little wheel on the black control box, but this doesn't work well at all. The lights are either off, which shows just a black screen in the app, or at full blast, which overwhelms the camera and shows only a white screen. Getting a usable light setting somewhere in the middle is almost impossible.Maybe it is possible to change the magnification setting somewhere in the provided phone app, but that highlights another defect of this scope. It's supposedly assembled in the USA, but the phone app most certainly wasn't designed and coded in the US. It's poorly laid out, difficult to use, forces you to display it in landscape mode, and riddled with broken English labels from a bad translation.

What a great product for the basic mechanic/homeowner
I have been playing with this for a few days now.I had dropped a bolt somewhere in my Harley engine, started looking around with this and found it in minutes. I used the magnetic end to pick it up.I took out a spark plug and looked into a cylinder and could see well enough. Of course this is not a large unit you would get from Snap On or one of the professional cameras for looking inside walls but for the money I think it would be adequate for basic uses, as far as I am concerned it has already paid for itself.A note to the manfacturer- it would be nice if you could find a spool that the center hole would be big enough to house the vial with the attachments for ease of carrying and storage.

GiraffeCam delivers
I purchased this for fishing data and AV cables down walls that contain EMT and plumbing obstructions. The picture is clear for a 2mp camera. The focal length seems to be 6" to infinity. The light is very bright (full on it washes out the picture a bit) It fits perfectly in a Pelican 1060 micro case. The spool it comes with would get smashed banging around in the back of my truck. I have no worries about a something in a Pelican product (phones, cameras, firearms, laptops ect...) getting broken. The accessories (mirror, magnet and hook) thread onto the end (after removing the bezel). The bezel works well for tying/taping a string onto. The wifi viewing app (android, Samsung note 3 and s7) works very well. It streams to multiple devices simultaneously. Very handy if multiple parties need to see what's going on (think fishing wires from crawl space to attic). The backbone is very stiff. The entire length can be extended without drooping.Overall way better than spending $200 on a Milwaukee/Bosch with a 3" screen.

Too much zoom, bad LED placement.
As others have found, this camera starts out okay, images at the focus point are fairly clear in broad daylight, but once I put the camera in darker places in my engine bay, the camera becomes almost useless. I can vaguely see enough to get it in place- sometimes. It's difficult to get an LED brightness setting that still lets me see everything. Most of the time, the image is grainy. Not to mentiuon the fact that sunlight filtering down to the camera completely ruins the exposure level, further degrading the quality of the image of what I'm really trying to see.The view angle is also poor, once I have a 3" long coolant pipe in focus I can't even see half of it. Combined with the other shortcomings and I can't find the crack I need to fix, with this camera. I wish I had looked at the customer photos before making me somewhat desperate purchase.

Poor quality construction
The product works as advertised, the wifi connection with the app was smooth. However the quality in its construction leads me to believe it won't last long. Where the wire connects to the "black box," which houses the switches and battery, it is already pulling apart with exposed glue and connections. The contents of the box appear to move around inside as I manipulate the camera wire. Had these issues not been present when I received the camera, this would have been 5 stars all the way.
