Fish Eyes: A Book You Can Count On

As a children's librarian, I'm familiar with most quality picture books. Now that I'm a grandmother I find it's difficult finding good literature for babies, but this book is perfect. My grandson has been fascinated with it since I gave it to him at 4 months, and now he's 9 months, he keeps finding new ways to interact. The colors attracted him first, the text is just the right length so he doesn't lose interest (and it's well written), we can practice counting (and move on to the addition when he's older). Unlike some board books, I can hold it so the next page opens just enough for him to grab it and turn it himself. Now he's discovered he can poke his finger into the 'fish eye' holes, and I can touch it from the back of the page, or move my finger over the back of the holes so the fish seem to blink. This is a concept book on so many levels, and an activity book as well; it's never boring. I only wish there were more of this caliber.

Beautiful, bold, simple, fun illustrations. Eyes are cutout so are tactile for extra engagement and education. One star off because this is somewhat flimsy for a board book, for such a high quality author I expected a higher quality product.

My daughter loves to look at the different fish on each page. This book taught her to count, the holes in the fish eyes gives children something to tangible touch when practicing to count each fish. Perfect!

My daughter loved this wonderful counting book. It has bright colors and little kids live to stick their fingers where the fish eye is placated. We gave two as recent baby gifts.

I love this book and it is perfect for the Early Years maths lessons. Children love to hear the story. The pictures are clear and colourful.It arrived promptly and well-packed.

Beautiful pictures a great book for learning to count

Simple spare text that rolls off your tongue and beautiful graphics that will never get old. A perfect counting book that is engaging, educational and literary. I wish every counting book could meet this standard. We love it!

Nice book to reinforce counting to 10. Each page has a little hole in each fish eye for counting with the child's finger (works great with 2 year old). Colorful book and very cute.
