Good quality

Just as advertised, good quality.

Nice

I like it but it is small.

As Advertised

Bought this to hold a map for an overnight hike. Works exactly as it says! A caveat: not sure if there's a standard on map sizes so you'll more than likely be folding your map in order to display correctly in the plastic window of your case.

Stained

Not water proof but good material and velcro to hold map in place. Unfortunately the paper they put inside stained the clear plastic yellow on the inside making it too difficult to see map details. Tried soap and water with no luck. Maybe acetone or paint thinner will do the trick. Otherwise a ziplock bag will be my next choice.

Nice little map protector, I use mine daily for checking off sections of completed tasks at work. Well worth the money!

Great for small maps, or car registration\insurance

Bought two and put them in my wife's vehicles. Folds up nicely and keeps the important documents organized.

What is so complicated about map cases?

I was actually moved to write a review -- which is something that I have never done -- due to my extreme level of frustration trying to find a useful map case in the US. Spent an inordinate amount of time researching and looking for one. Turns out, the perfect solution appears to be a cheap dealie made in the UK. It involves a tri-fold design, a functional pocket for a compass, two or (gasp) three writing implements, a protractor, and a map that is bigger than a post card. And, you can get it, or any one of various similar items, for about the price of this here piece of inadequate. BCB, or Highlander, or perhaps various others make it. In fact, you can order it on Amazon UK. (Just throw BCB and "Patrol Commander's Map Case" into the Googler, and you'll get a fine example). But it can't ship to the US. Here, we're stuck with half-assed junk like this one. So, I wrote the manufacturer to see if I could get one in the US. That e-mail inquiry sums up my frustration with everything available in the US pretty well.I am in the US. Here, it appears that such cutting edge technology -- involving not only a bag to put a map in, but snaps, and additional pockets for incongruous objects such as a compass and writing implements, or, god forbid, a protractor -- is so mind-bogglingly innotative that it does not appear to be available here. Moreover, all of the folks in the US that are actually making so-called "map cases" appear committed to instead manufacturing fidgety and useless pieces of junk. For example, you can buy a pouch for your map, as long as it's not actually map-sized, but you'll have to leave the compass in your pocket. And god only knows what you might have to do with a spare writing implement. Or, you can get a nifty case to keep them all in the same bag, assuming you never have occasion to use a map larger than a postcard. Or, you could velcro several pouches together, one for the map, one for the compass, in a nonsensically complicated nesting bit of stupid. But no writing implment, sorry. Oh, and your compass won't actually fit in the compass pouch, either. "Cutting edge", no? Yes, I'm a bit around the bend with frustration -- and all I want is this simple, elegant solution that noone in the vast military-industrial / outdoor equipment / orienteering communities in the US seems to be able to figure out. This 15-cent wonder from Raine that is the subject of the review seems to be the best I could find in the US. It's not what I want. I can't imagine it's what you want. Why is this so complicated?
