I am particularly fond of chicory (New Orleans Style) coffee, and when I can, I go to an Asian supermarket near me which has the best price on cans of Cafe du Monde in all of Boston (or on Amazon, sorry Amazon!). With iced coffee season upon us, I thought to expand my "retirement dorm room," a tiny 450 sq ft studio with a galley kitchen, with another carefully selected item for my pondered necessities, now that I am disabled and retired.I am a retired engineer, so design is important. I can not stand easily and have no dishwasher, so an item must be easily cleaned, and easy to assemble and disassemble and clean. I have so little room in my kitchen, it must be sleek and play well with other items in the refrigerator or on my tiny dining table. And of course, it must perform as advertised.One cup of CdM out of the can, prepared according to their directions, 12h in the fridge produced a lovely, strong concentrate without a tinge of bitterness. Being chicory coffee, it was perhaps not as strong as pure coffee might be -- next time I will be more patient and let it go further into their 12-24h suggested steeping range.The first pint glass I drank diluted with water, and the second with home-made soymilk. Curiously, I found myself more inclined to sweeten the pint I sweetened with unsweetened soymilk than the diluted concentrate, black, which was smooth and lovely. I found a webpage that suggested maple-vanilla syrup as a sweetener, but these days I think that might be a bit spendy for my fixed income, but "creole coffee," light with a bit of molasses will be my next experiment.

I am an avid iced coffee drinker. 1* outside and I will have an iced coffee in hand. I make my own every morning, but decided to look for something better than brewing hot and putting in the refrigerator. This cold brew coffee maker exceeds my expectations. No acid taste, very smooth and flavored coffee has a better flavor! Here are some tips I have learned along the way, so you can brew the best cup:1. I fill the filter about 75-80% of the way up. Filling it halfway is fine, but you will want to let it brew for a longer amount of time to get a stronger coffee.2. When the coffee is about halfway up the filter, pour about a cup of water over it. Continue filling the filter with coffee.3. When you are satisfied with the amount of coffee in the filter, pour the water over the coffee in the filter.4. Use cool (not cold) water to fill up the pitcher.5. Let the coffee brew for the first 8-10 hours at room temperature. Stir it around a bit and put it in the refrigerator for the remaining time to get to 24 hours brewing.6. The first day is great, but the second, third and fourth days are better. If you let it brew for longer, you get better coffee. I keep coffee that is done brewing in a separate carafe so I can brew more in the coffee maker.I hope this helps and that you enjoy your cold brew too =)

I'm disappointed this company no longer makes products. I liked a lot about their design compared to other options from other sellers. Everything from the way the handle is built into the lid (vs the competitors who have awkwardly shaped glass handles) to the different filters for coffee vs infusion, and the pitcher size so you can fill a few glasses. The sellers responded quickly when my item arrived with a broken filter and they sent me a replacement filter quickly for free (including free shipping).This is also dishwasher safe for easy cleaning, which I feel can be hard to find. Definitely read the details for product features to make sure your product has everything you need for convenience.The silicon ring gasket seal is a necessity and a standard size, so after my seal broke last year (after a few years of use), it was easy for me to measure and buy the correct size replacement seal.

It seems sturdy enough and works ok, I haven’t measured it and I have no reason to believe it’s not an accurate description, but this seem small. Family staying with his who brought a similar device that led me to buy this, was supposed to be one litre and it seemed to make more coffee. Also where their’s could be filled in the afternoon/early evening and have good coffee by morning this coffee seems kind of thin even 16 hours later. I will need to try the fruit infused water as this was part of the reason we chose this model and maybe it’ll warrant an update.Edit: Going to five stars! They could help themselves by including basic instructions. Since they didn't I used the info on the back of the coffee packaging which is for hot coffee which was too weak for cold coffee. Following some directions on the internet that used slightly more grounds for cold coffee it worked much better. That plus the lid where I thought it seemed flimsy was just loose and could be tightened. Now it shines since it cleans up way easier than the one family had with them, and keeps ground out of the coffee better.

Only used for cold brew coffee - it was too messy. There are too many parts and it's difficult to clean. The filter is too small in relation to the pitcher. The pitcher also holds about 55 ounces. I think it may be 44 ounces to the level the coffee shown in the photo. It may be good for the fruit infusion or iced tea. Would not order again. It's not versatile to use as a just a pitcher so I'll be donating to goodwill:/

I wanted to make a good quantity without breaking open the 8 tea bags and boiling water .. then waiting. Now I can buy whatever tea in bulk (saving money) and make the cold brew a day or so before and it is fine!! The device is easy to figure out and use and looks very smart also!! I actually plan on buying more Cali Home Brews for myself to have a variety of coffees and teas hot or cold and to give as gifts to family and friends. As a consumer and frequent Amazon shopper the product here hits a Home Run with bases loaded !!! I am not a baseball fan so much as a coffee and tea lover.
