Everything you would want in an affordable pump/ res combo!
I had the D5 Photon 170 before this and I must say that this is a pretty worthy contender, with consideration to what you are looking for in a pump/ reservoir combo. Here are the pros and cons I can come up with when comparing the X4 Photon to the D5 Photon.Pros:1. Cheaper- X4 $100 vs D5 $1552. Port layout- This could go any way but to me it was a pro to have the ports line up more perpendicular unlike the D5 version just for convenience sake.3. Included fan/ radiator mounting bracket- I had to buy an extra part to mount the D5 to a fan/ radiator which just added weight to the already bulky mounting plate4. Sleek design = Lighter in weight- As I just mentioned above referring to the bulky mounting plate on the D5, this pump combo rids of that and replaces it for a thinner piece that also doubles as a fan/ radiator mount.5. Quiet and strong pump- I have not heard of the X4 pump anywhere and there are not much entries for it when I searched on the web, so being in the frontline of reviews for this new pump, I would gladly like to give it its first positive review! As of now the only info for the X4 is provided on the XSPC website. In this pump's description on the website it says that it runs at the constant level 4 equivalent of the D5 vario ("vario" meaning the D5 pump is speed adjustable with which it has 5 levels of speed) BUT it also says that it is more silent than the D5 at that level. I can with most certainty say that this is absolutely TRUE! This pump sounds like the D5 at level 1 or 2, but still pushes water equivalent to the D5 at level 4?! That my people is amazing! I'd say that the only time you will hear this pump is when you are bleeding air out of it OR only when you stick your ear right next to the thing. It really is that quiet and strong!Cons:1. Not speed adjustable- Unlike the D5 which is speed adjustable, the X4 pump only runs at a constant speed, but my last pro point kinda defeats this con.2. Not...a D5...?- This is more of a joke, but before finding about this pump I was under the impression that the D5 was the best pump choice out there and that no other pump was as quiet and strong. That is no longer the case and I can even say that this pump could be the next best one out there today! Conclusion:There you have it folks! I don't have many cons to say about the X4 Photon Reservoir/Pump combo, because to me it is great! Affordable, quiet, strong, and still good looking? What more could you want? Yeah, its not speed adjustable, but who needs that when it already runs well at default. Now I am only about 8 months into building my first water cooled system, so there maybe something I might not get about this pump compared to the longstanding contender, the D5. However, as a purchaser of both, I am for now firmly sided with the X4.

The unit only needs a sata power but dosent have a pwm control could be good or bad based on how much control you want ...
Works as it should no leaks. The unit only needs a sata power but dosent have a pwm control could be good or bad based on how much control you want or dont.. Unit does have two outs and one in ports for your loops. Top has cap for filling but and cause some back splash if not careful.

Just spend some extra money on a better pump if you're planning on cooling more than one ...
I've had two of these pumps die on me within 2 days of installing them. I don't have a crazy build, but it apparently doesn't have a high enough flow rate to deal with my CPU+1GPU build. Just spend some extra money on a better pump if you're planning on cooling more than one component or have a loop with more than a couple of bends.UPDATE:I just got the D5 Vario version of this res and it works MUCH better for only about 30 bucks more! Also I looked at the marketing material and it's no surprise that I had trouble with this considering the deceptive advertising on the amazon page. THIS IS NOT "COMPARABLE IN PERFORMANCE TO THE D5 VARIO"! This pump output HALF the flow rate that the D5 does. NO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE COOLING MORE THAN ONE COMPONENT!

A very quiet and effective pump/res
very very quiet, good flow, nice light, and very effective at cooling a single GPU.

it died on me after 5 months of usage. ...
it died on me after 5 months of usage. I don't think it's worth this price tbh.I have 2 enermax pump/res combo on my main 24 hour x99 build since May last year and they are way cheaper than this piece of junk...

Great pump for the price
I have bought this pump little over a year ago, I finally decided to do a review on it as I believe it will help others. Personally I have to say this pump for the price it pays for itself, I am running 2-360mm radiators and the pump is supplying fluid to the GPU and CPU while running a series loop from Pump->CPU->Radiator->GPU->Radiator->Pump and maintaining my PC at very cool temps while maintaining a very quiet level as I don't hear the pump as is very quiet. My system is running a i7-9900k overclocked to 5.0Ghz and my Temps at load are 56-58 degrees, My GPU is an Aorus 2080xtreme and is overclocked to 2085mhz and my Temps are only 48 degrees on load. All in all do I recommend this pump? Absolutely Yes!!! and if it fails at some point I will buy another one without a doubt. I have been using Water Wetter Coolant and have had zero issues with clogging or dirty pump.

Pump dead in less than 6 months.
Installed and run since mid-November 2019. Today my pc ramped up the fans due to temps, so I began to troubleshoot. Turns out the pump is dead. Flatlined. Tried multiple sata connections from psu. Nada.Lasted less than 6 months. For those 5 1/2 months it worked, things seemed to be fine, decent pressure, very nice temps, but the ill-fated pump is absolutely a deal breaker. I'm just glad I was using my pc when it failed else I dread to think what would have happened to my other components.I'm sorely disappointed in the quality. My radiators and fittings are great, but if you read other reviews the pump is worthless. Avoid purchase at all costs. There are better deals out there.

Deadly silent
after i tried several cheaper reservoir+pump combos i fallen in love with this one true its missing the variable speed but in my opinion is not vital, its deadly silent as a fact my hdd is louder the the pump its has a wery impressive flow rate, with the other pump on the same setup i got temperatures like 50-55 celsius while had a graphics card and th cpu on a same loop(both owerclocked) with this i added ewen the northbridge on a loop and still the max temperature i got is 45 celsius after a 24 HR run on full load
