Emotiva Audio BasX A-150 Stereo Power Amplifier

I noticed that the reviews here are for the A-100, so I specifically wanted to share my thoughts on the A-150. This is a 75w per channel power amplifier, so no volume control is present as in the A-100. You will need to connect this to a preamplifier. I was initially quite skeptical about all the glowing Emotiva reviews and forgive me for saying I assumed they were from hardcore fans of the brand. I now stand corrected, the build quality is excellent, the amplification is powerful and sound detailed and clear, my music seems more dynamic ( was previously using a 55w pc class D streaming amp ). With this Emotiva I usually don't have to turn the preamp volume beyond 12 o'clock to listen in a living area with 20 ft ceilings. I am using it in conjunction with a Jamo subwoofer. As for the packaging, it was triple boxed! 2 Emotiva boxes and then an Amazon box. I really could not be happier with the price and performance, I will be looking at other Emotiva products in the future as a result of my experience with this unit.

i hooked this up with my old denon 5.1 a/v receiver i bought 23 years ago with pioneer FS52 , boy this thing make my old system a new and power machine, the sound is more powerful and tight...also i have a yamaha front firing power subwoofer. emotiva really rocks. next in mind would be the 5 channel for my living room home theater system.

The sound is absolutely amazing runs super clean and very powerful to boot. This amp is built with attention to detail just like the larger amps they have its heavy and made of all metal. I was skeptical about this amp but now that's it's running my sr7011 rear hight speakers I realize its capable of running bigger speaker. If your thinking of adding this amplifier do it you wont be disappointed.

Very happy i bought this. price was right where i wanted it and use a dac with a volume control and usb connection to play hi res music, the dac is my preamp. i am using hi sensitivity (91db) 8 ohm speakers and its plenty loud, too loud if i go to half way on vol.

The amp does not sound nearly as musical as my Demon AVR 3500 receiver and lackluster bass response! I thought that the Emotiva amp would be an upgrade and a bit more power, however, it is a downgrade. That being said, I am still looking. I guess you get what you pay for....

Hi all, I wanted to love this amp, but for me it didn't work. 1. Sounded bad. Harsh, harsh, brittle, instant headache. 2. No high frequency filter so RF noise can come in willy nilly 3. Transformer would rattle, be quiet, than rattle some more. 4. Sent back and Emotiva says 2-3 weeks for a return. UPDATE. Emotiva customer service was great. Didn't work for me but YMMV. BLessings!

I had an Emotiva amp years ago when they first came out. It was excellent. This one is too. I'm very glad. The sound is very clean, detailed, and dynamic. All frequencies are produced well. I'm running this in conjunction with an Adcom GFP-555 preamp. The sound is excellent.

Okay....my regular Amplifier is in the shop for repairs...I purchase the Emotiva BasX A-150 amplifier so I could still have music....must say very impressive little amp for the money.....after two weeks of using......wish I would’ve checked Emotiva higher end Amplifier....before I purchased my so called audiophile amp......Peace
