Fluval EDGE Algae Magnet

The built quality is nice and it's ergonomic, but if it doesn't do what it's designed to do well all of that is for not. That's the case with this magnet cleaner. Let me count the ways it doesn't work for me:- Weak magnet, if the magnet is not strong it will constantly fall off and not be effective in cleaning the glass- The string is annoying and will only lead to problems keeping it on there (I removed it on my unit after trying it on)- Just doesn't clean well mainly because it keeps falling off when swiping it across the glass (did I already say weak magnet?)I suggest a Mag Float, that magnet is MUCH stronger and no I don't work for them or paid by them. Just letting you know what works in my two tanks. I didn't bother returning this because I already dumped the package and the price wasn't high so it wasn't worth my time to do that.To end on a positive note, the inside surface area is larger and the outside handle is easy to hold...but like I said...it also has to work well for what it is designed for. Too bad, I wanted to like it, but can't recommend this.

Look, this thing is great, probably the best of its time.. still great for specific uses where its unique shape come in to play. But there are other great scrubbers out there, esp for saltwater that are simply better for the money.

This is an essential accessory for the Fluval Edge as it is significantly difficult to clean given the small opening at the top of the tank. The algae magnet works pretty well overall - you just have to careful to avoid snagging it on decor and plants. It does a good cleaning job once you get it in the right place!

This device works the same as others in its field. Nothing bad about it, but did not knock my socks off either. The string it comes with to tether the device and reel it back in is way longer than it needs to be and it extremely thin. The string will likely break some day and I will end up throwing the device away because it isn't anything special compared to others out there.

This product goes for the velcro as a scrape pad. Its kind of weird. but it doesn't do a great job. I have to go over spots over and over to clean them off. I mean it gets the job done. But I feel like this is ment to have some sort of scrubbing pad on it to make it more efficient. its a 6 dollar scraper, you really get what you pay for. I would suggest looking to one of the better magstyle for a little more money and have a better product.

This little thing really makes cleaning my 6 gallon tank much easier! The thing only has a tiny opening in the top, so it makes it so hard for me to clean sometimes, this algae magnet is awesome! It scrubs all the crap right off the tank with no effort & my hands get to stay dry!! The magnet is super powerful.

It's fairly nice. I don't like the string however. I cut the string and don't use that feature at all, I just scrub away. It does take some practice but it cleans fairly well. When it falls off in your tank, just move it around till it magnetizes again. Just remember to clean it every once and awhile !

meh.. good presentation and all as usual with fluval products but it doesn't work that well. Magnet is strong enough, only cons is they decided to use velcro material for cleaning side and it doesn't clean that well. Had to stick a felp pad and its much better now.

The Fluval Edge Algae Magnet did exactly as it promised. I was able to remove those unsightly brown spots from the glass in the interior of my aquarium, with a few back and forth motions.The magnet is sufficiently strong to ensure that the inside cleaner can be re-magnetised should it come loose when cleaning a little too frantically (as I do!) I was also able to pull the magnet right down into the gravel, without the magnet coming loose. The cleaning part is lemon shaped, so it cleans fairly tight into corners. The cleaning surface looks like it is made from the hook side of velcro, so it cleans a bit like a scourer, but without scratching the glass.The cleaner also comes with a piece of thread, that attaches the interior piece to the orange part on the handle. The orange part detaches from the handle and can be left to float in the tank while you clean. When you finish, simply pick up the orange part and pull the cleaner out by the thread. It's easy to fish out without getting too wet...providing there aren't too many plants or decoration in the tank that the thread might get tangled around.

If I could give it 0 stars I would, this is designed and advertised as a glass algae cleaner this is false advertising as it couldn't even clean the tiniest bit of brown algae off my tank. I have soil in my tropical tank, the magnet doesn't float it sink and then collects with soil or sand which is incredibly hard to rinse out. I also wouldn't rate the buyer "HUGGLEPETS" the product cost me £9.99 to purchase but will cost me £3.90 in my own money to have this item sent back for a refund. Do not purchase!

I got this for a new tank my wife bought and being a first time user of the fluval range thought it would be worth while, ultimately I find it frustrating to use although it does work, it's just fiddly and for a job which the right time of fish would carry out in an 80% capacity it may not be worth it. Have found it useful for the odd bit of gravel scraping. Probably wouldn't purchase again in the future although not all that expensive

Ok, so this is designed for the fluval edge....However designed it is thick as hell, it's on a plumb line? Meaning you have to stick your hand in the tiny gap to reach a new surface, it struggles to clear the bubbles from the top of the tank, especially struggles with corners as its lentil shaped.

Had this for approximately 1 month. After a couple weeks, the suede lining on the outer magnet has started to wear away...it does well for removing algae and has relatively strong magnets. The string that is attached to it is pointless in my perspective - so i just cut it off xD
