Dont bother - Use a soft sock with dry rice instead (for heat applications)
Worthless. Firstly, the little blue pellets that are supposed to fill up the pouch? Not nearly enough. There's MAYBE half the amount shown in the picture. So when you put heated or frozen pad on your eye, pressing it down hardly does anything. So much air was in the pouch that the beads did nothing. And like some of the other reviews, the directions for heating are sketchy at best. I did find some instructions on the actual pad, very hard to read, that said "heat pads in hot water". So many things could have made these better...but still a soft sock with a cup of dry rice heated in the microwave works MUCH better. Didn't bother returning at $3. But now i know why they were $3.

love these
Just what the doctor ordered. I suffer from eye strain and after a day in front of the computer these are great for tired sore eyes. I keep in the fridge and then put in the freezer for 20 minutes before using. I love them ....

Description says hot / cold but the packaging says nothing ...
Description says hot / cold but the packaging says nothing about hot. The directions just say to put them in the freezer. Since I bought them for hot use, I first tried soaking them in hot water but they don't get hot. then I tried using them as hot and put it in the microwave for 12 seconds. They lasted about two weeks, then one of them started oozing blue gel.

DO NOT PUT IN MICROWAVE....
There is conflicting information on how to use the gel packs. Online it indicates you can place in the microwave. When I did this - for less than a minute, it blew up like a balloon. Needless to say, I ruined it. The other one I placed in hot water that was warmed up in the microwave. It does work pretty good. It is a small and the size is perfect for an eye.

May not work entirely as expected.
Very good for cold, but gets hot very easily and have to be careful not to melt the sack containing the pellets. The instructions don't mention how to use them for heat, so I question if that was really part of their design.

Worked Well!
Worked great. Stayed cold for quite awhile. Nice to be able to position each gel pack individually -- or to use only one if desired. Carrying case is a nice add.
