Comes set up with a fairly bassy sound signature by default (as you would expect from most general consumer headphones). This can be dialled back in the app via a custom EQ preset, and greatly increases the clarity of the sound. I have upgraded to this from my Sony wh1000-xm3's and it's a huge step up in terms of raw audio quality, with my custom EQ set it can sound pretty neutral and clear which I can't say for most wireless cans I've tried over the years. It comes with an expected set of other presets (which you shouldn't use). My previous set (wh1000-xm3) remained quite muddy and boomy even when dialled back in the Sony app. Whatever your EQ choice may be, it is saved *to* the headset, and *not* purely tied to the app itself - so once you've set your preset as you want, even if your phone is nowhere nearby and you connect to a brand new device, it will sound correct. Again, not something other headphones do for some reason. As such your EQ will also maintain over multiple devices when you use bluetooth multi-point connections. The controls are a bit underwhelming, the touch sensor on the side only allows for switching between or disabling the noise cancellation and ambient sound modes. No switching tracks for example. These are accomplished via pressing the larger button on the right earcup multiple times, volume is also controlled here via two smaller buttons above and below the larger button. All of these buttons feel nice enough to press but are a bit thin and hard to find in an instant compared to the large touch surface. Let me map any function to any button/surface, please! There are also no gestures like holding your hand over the touchpad to quickly enable and disable ambient sound like on the Sony range of headphones. Comfort is quite good, the earpads are very pillowy and thick, but as this is a noise cancelling set they are the usual synthetic leather material found on almost all headphones of this type - which can be quite sweaty over extended periods. Even with my big head I find myself using the smallest size setting for the headband. I can't test on anyone with a smaller head, but keep this in mind for folks with small noggins. The noise cancelling is good, though I don't think it can hold a candle to the latest from Sony or Apple - but for most people I think it will still be more than acceptable. For the usual suite of droning constant sounds like airplane noise and fans, it does an excellent job. Just don't expect your ears to be transported to a void of absolute silence. In very very quiet environments (where noise cancellation might not be appropriate anyway) - you will notice a very very quiet wind noise introduced by the noise cancellation, though in a louder environment or when listening to music you cannot hear this. Also to note that when using noise cancellation or ambient sound mode, quick sudden head movements might cause your ears to pop. Keep this in mind if you wish to use these whilst exercising or walking around a lot, you may wish to switch noise cancellation and ambient sound entirely off. Build quality is what you would expect for this price range, a nice smooth plastic for most construction with glossy tasteful accents (And the circular anisotropic reflections on the earcups is a nice touch). It feels solid in the hand and doesn't make any creak noises when you move your head around which is the important part. The hinges also feel quite solid when folding and unfolding. Unlike the newer Sony xm5 it also retains the ability to fold up into a smaller form factor for travelling. It comes with a hard case which is on par with other cases for this type of headphone and will slip into a bag fairly easily with its rounded edges. Overall it's a fairly competitive option. The noise cancellation might not hold up to the XM5 or Apple options but for around 80gbp cheaper than the Sony option and hundreds cheaper than the Apple option I don't think you can go wrong. Personally I haven't been able to abide by the sound of the Sony XM series thus far, so if you fall in the same camp and want a heaphone that can pull off a more neutral sound with a quick EQ - this might do it for you. Other options might be the Bose QC45, but I have not had the pleasure of trying those thus far.

For the price I paid (~200GBP) these are a 5 star product - more objectively I guess I would give 4.5 stars I did a lot of research into the headphones I wanted to replace my Bose QCs which were lost after 5 years sadly. Initially I went straight back to the Bose and added to my cart, but newer models were less well reviewed and I thought I might as well improve on it where I could. The one thing I didn't like about the Bose QC was the sound leakage, which made me feel self conscious on a packed commuter train or flight or whatever, as I like to have the volume up loud. The Technics have a closed back and are generally much better in that department, the ANC is not quite as good - but it's a great trade-off for me. These headphones are bass forward, with a large driver etc, and if I am totally honest might not be quite as balanced as some other headphones out of the box, but I do really like & prefer the bass bias, so again I'm really happy with them! My only concern was/is about the plastic band joints breaking - which i have read in other reviews, but I don't see it as a big issue here - took a risk on it, but seems fine - they feel well made. Got a good carry case as well, so I would expect them to be fine - I used to just chuck my Bose in the bag sometimes - I probably wont do that with these. I am a fan of Technics / Panasonic audio from years ago - so these headphones look and feel great to me. In summary then - for the price, I am over the moon with them frankly, couldn't be happier. If budget was no concern then all things being equal I might've gone for the Sony Flagship model about £300ish? as I tried them out in the shop and they were almost too damn loud in a good way, seemingly similar to the Technics, but with better ANC and no build quality "concerns" - but as the proud owner of some EAH-A800E-K's I am very happy and am no longer in the market for wireless over-ear headphones. If anything I might get some Bose QCs again if I become rich and have them as back-ups or for calls when WFH, for pure vanity reasons (they are still the best looking over-ears for that price range imo).

Excellent build and quality materials slightly on the heavy side, brilliant sounds quality but they do need help with other music player moving levels up and down as I have done ✅ then music and speech 💬 is 100% clear and deep, excellent value for the price. My only issue is the the Technical app I have had issues when removing the headphones the noise cancelling turns off and if you're playing music off your mobile or watching films etc on tablet it stops and starts like it's playing with you, I think I have found the problem in the app it's too do with the headphones knowing they are being worn , so you have to turn off that part of the app... We're is the update Technics ... Otherwise I love these headphones.

Good sound and comfy at a great price, just over £100

Well , after one month using this headphones I’ve decided to write a review . I spent some time to choose proper ones for around 300 £ between Sony, Bose and this one’s . First of all - quality of sound. I like to listen different styles of music like house music , drum’n’bass , nu-metal. For the sound quality I can give them 8 stars from 10 . If you want to listen music via phone I strongly recommend to download Tehcnics app to set equaliser (too much bass) , also you can set up auto power off and stuff , tbh this app on of the most useful apps for headphones in my opinion. Can’t tell anything if you using hi-fi player , but they give a lot of power if you listen music via PC though. Ear pads - 10 stars from 10. Very soft with memory touch 🤌. Battery - well, I was listening 5 of 7 via Bluetooth around 90 min each day at volume level 80-85% and battery felt to 25% after 4 weeks (using equaliser and noice cancelling) .Overall it’s around 35- 39 hours in my opinion is more than very good so 9 stars from 10. Case for the headphones- don’t not much to say , it’s solid made from good materials , will see what will be with this case after 1 year 🤷‍♂️. Noice cancelling works very well , you can set it from 1 to 100 % via app . Quality of the headphones- well I can give them 8 stars from 10 . The worst thing is to listen them via iPhone . I don’t know why , but with my 11 ProMax I experience sometime problems like music may stop playing suddenly, or bass in right ear might sound louder than in left one . Or this is because of the Tehnics app , or because of the Bluetooth or because of the JetAudio music app , I have no clue .However listening on PC is orgasm to my ears . 8 stars from 10 . For this price they worth , deffo . UPD.. I didn't wanted to update my review, but when it happend again...... After 10 months of use , when I took them off the head, suddenly left earcup detached from headband. How ? I got no clue. I always was keeping them in protective case when not in use, there was no physical damage with them or stuff like that. I decided to get in touch with Technics, explained them the situation, sent photos but they claimed that the headpones broke because of the physical damage and warranty (1 year) do not cover this, I realised that I had no choise but to repair them by myself. And what you think ? This week, after 4 months, right earcup detahced on the same way as left one before (have a look at the last 3 photos). I don't know how to expalain this, I don't think my head is so wide, but seems for this headphgones it is, therefore the headband was always in tension, which is why the headphones broke in this way. Technics, if you read this, bear in mind , this is the biggest disappointed experience I've ever had using this headphones. I was so happy when I bought them , left positive reveiew here, and wasted 300£ for this garbage. Durability of this headphones below zero. Well done Technics ! ! !

I appreciate the sound quality and the aesthetics of these headphones. I bought these in September 2023 and are paired with a Samsung phone to take advantage of LDAC Bluetooth codec for higher quality audio streaming over bluetooth. Technics did a great job, they are easy to set up, battery life is outstanding and the sound is very impressive across all music genres. The Technics App does have an Equaliser and options for pre set sound stages which is helpful. The active noise cancelling is very good. Technics also supply a 3.5mm headphone jack and an airplane double jack in the box which is very welcome. I would have liked button controls on the headphones to stop/start and skip tracks.To those reviewers that snapped their models, try being less heavy handed, mine are sturdy and will last for many years if taken care of properly. Very satisfied with these!

Due to the easing of COVID restrictions, I have restarted my business trips so I purchased these Technics EAH-A800's due to the nice design & to replace my old Headphones Bose QC35. I really like the Technics design. Not plasticky, but high quality construction with Technics Brand logo which is beautifully crafted on the unique design of earcups. Also the fit is really snug with the super-soft earpads. In my opinion the sound quality is really impressive. It delivers really dynamic and deep Bass, and gives crispy clean Vocal sound. I was really impressed with the Noise cancelling, I felt really disconnected from the surroundings and I could really enjoy listening to the music on the airplane without any distraction. Also the call quality is very decent when in a call. The Technics APP is really intuitive too and easy to use. It allows total control over the sound settings. These headphones are foldable, and can be packed in the compact egg shaped carrying case. I could not test yet, but the manual says they work for 50hrs WITH Noise cancelling on!

Great headphones, easy to use, long play time great sound, well recommended.

I have tried Sony XM4 and 5, SENNHEISER MOMENTUM 4 and 3, JBLs and Bose. This has the most balanced sound with excellent tight bass and clear mids. It’s very well made and looks fantastic. Very comfortable even with glasses. No regrets, best headphones at this price level

Tengo claro que estos auriculares juegan en la liga de los Sony WH-1000XM, Apple AirPods y Bose QuietComfort. Dentro de esta gama, para poder apreciar diferencias en la calidad de sonido hay que tener un oído increíblemente fino y bien entrenado. No creo que la mayoría de los que pontifican en sus reseñas sobre conceptos como "respuesta de frecuencias" (todos los auriculares mencionados pueden reproducir un rango de frecuencias más amplio de lo que un oído normal puede percibir), "rango dinámico", "separación y escena sonora" o "definición" lo tengan. Yo desde luego no presumo de tener un oído tan fino. Las diferencias subjetivas pueden depender mucho más de la fuente de audio, del volumen y de la ecualización con la que se haga la prueba que de la calidad real de los auriculares (y la ecualización es muy fácil de cambiar, al menos en los Technics EAH-A800). Así que me limitaré a lo que me parecen datos absolutamente objetivos. Entre las ventajas puedo señalar: 🌟 La sensibilidad o eficiencia de estos auriculares es sobresaliente. Para la misma potencia en la señal de audio de entrada entregan un volumen más alto que la mayoría de auriculares que he probado. 🌟 La cancelación de ruido es excelente. La he comparado con la de los Sony (que muchos consideran como la de referencia) y no me arriesgaré a decir si mejor o peor. Simplemente, a mi juicio, muy buena y perfectamente comparable a la de los Sony. 🌟 La conexión bluetooth multipunto funciona bien. Una vez configurada, se conectan simultáneamente a mi PC y a mi móvil. Puedo estar escuchando música desde el PC, y al entrar una llamada en el móvil conmutan automáticamente, de forma que puedo contestar la llamada y hablar desde ellos. 🌟 La aplicación (Technics Audio Connect) es bastante intuitiva y permite configurar muchas funcionalidades, entre otras: lenguaje de las notificaciones, apagado automático, sensor de detección de uso (detecta si te quitas o te pones los auriculares), conexión multipunto, gestos o toques de control, modo de cancelación de eco, etc. 🌟 La duración de la batería es sobresaliente. Hasta 50 horas con la cancelación del ruido activada, y 10 horas de reproducción con una carga rápida de 15 minutos. Por señalar algunas posibles mejoras, mencionaré las dos siguientes, a pesar de las cuales sigo pensando que se merecen las cinco estrellas. 🤔 Las almohadillas son muy cómodas, pero quizá la diadema debería ser un poco más grande. Después de llevarlos unas horas me aprietan un poco en la parte superior de la cabeza, cosa que no me ocurre con otros. 🤔 La calidad del cable de audio incluido (con un jack de 3,5" en cada extremo) no está a la altura del resto. Es demasiado corto y fino. Conclusión: Los Technics EAH-A800 son una de las mejores opciones en su clase, y los recomiendo sin dudarlo. La calidad de sonido, la cancelación de ruido, la conexión multipunto y la batería son excepcionales. Sin duda, se merecen las cinco estrellas.

Habe Kopfhörer zur Nachfolge meiner B&O H9i gesucht und die Technics A800 mit den Bowers & Wilkins PX8 verglichen. Letzterer kostet glatt das Doppelte, aber ist er auch doppelt so gut? Meine Erfahrungen nachfolgend. Subjektiv, aber unvoreingenommen. Ich habe den Aspekt "Preis" außer Acht gelassen und einfach mal so getan, dass beide auf gleichem Preisniveau wären. Klang, Tragekomfort oder Bedienung habe ich natürlich auch nach persönlichem Empfinden und nicht durch qualifizierte techn. Tests bewertet. Das mal vorab. Mich interessiert die Verpackung bzw.. Unboxing wenig, deshalb gehe ich darauf nicht ein. Auch wenn es ANC Kopfhörer sind, werde ich diese Kriterium nicht oder nur kurz bewerten: Störgeräuschreduktion ist gut, aber nicht perfekt (Perfekte gibt es auch gar nicht, zumindest noch nicht). 1. Tragekomfort: Den A800 das erste mal aufgesetzt und hatte gleich gemischte Gefühle. Auf der einen Seite sehr bequem und angenehm, auf der anderen Seite direkt ein Rauschen im Ohr (Effekt: Meeresrauschen wenn man Muschel ans Ohr hält). Auffällig, aber nicht störend. Auch nach Stunden im Haus immer noch sehr angenehm, aber natürlich wird es unter den Hörern warm. Zumindest bei Haustemperatur kaum störend. Beim Spazierengehen (nicht Joggen) verrutschen die Kopfhörer, sodass man von Zeit zu Zeit den Bügel wieder etwas nach vorn ziehen muss. Das ist sicher von Kopfform zu Kopfform und von Gangart zu Gangart verschieden. Nur: Der B&O sowie der B&W haben dieses "Problemchen" nicht. Für mich aber definitiv kein Problem. Ich würde den Tragekomfort als sehr gut beurteilen, aber eben nicht perfekt. => 4 von 5 Sternen (dem B&W würde ich trotz der fast zu kleinen Form/Polster 5 von 5 Sternen geben) 2. Verbindung per Bluetooth Einfach verbunden, auch Multipoint funktioniert perfekt. Wow, ein großer Fortschritt im Vergleich zu dem oft fummeligen Verbinden beim B&O. => 5 von 5 Sternen 3. Klang Ich höre ganz unterschiedliche Musikrichtungen, was auch der Grund war mich vom B&O zu verabschieden, da er klanglich für mich zwei zu große Nachteile hat: Erstens gibt es einen riesigen Klangunterschied zwischen aktiviertem und deaktiviertem Noise-Cancelling und zweitens kann man mit aktiviertem NC manche Musik zB. Metall kaum genießen. Den A800 aufgesetzt und play: Wow! Vom ersten Moment in den Klang verliebt. Ich möchte hier nicht über die Default Einstellungen philosophieren, denn im Zeitalter von ANC werden auch diese "designed" und repräsentieren nicht die unverfälschte Qualität der Hardware. Die Standardeinstellungen sind schon gut, aber mit wenig Aufwand kann man durch den einfachen Equalizer in der App je nach Musik noch einiges rausholen. D.h. die guten Treiber und die von Haus aus schon guten Klangeigenschaften können so nach individuellem Empfinden optimiert werden. Das hört sich trivial an, setzt aber voraus, dass die Hardware das auch umsetzen kann. Die Lautsprecher des A800 können das. Bin begeistert, was da raus kommt ist wirklich sehr gut! Gerade bei Klaviermusik (zB. Beethoven Bagatelle in A Moll [Esthella Chuprik], Scriabin Prelude Op.13 [Vadym Kholodenko], Liszt Transcendential Etudes [Kirill Gerstein]) glänzen die Kopfhörer durch einen sauberen, klaren und ansprechenden Klang. Brillant! Meiner Meinung nach schöner als der B&O und sogar als der B&W. Generell bei klassischer Musik fällt auf, dass der Technics klarer, weiter, der B&W wärmer und näher klingt. Beide klingen sehr sehr gut, aber hier ziehe ich den Technics sogar vor. => 5+ von 5 Sternen Auch Orchestermusik (z.B. Tchaikovsky Violinkonzert [Vadim Repin]) gefällt mir was der A800 liefert sehr gut, besser noch als die sehr gute Performance des B&W. => 5 von 5 Sternen Bei Metal, besonders bei Stücken mit dichten, schwierig zu differenzierendem Klangaufbau (z.B. Arch Enemy - Sunset oder the empire) erkennt man m.E. die Qualitäten eines guten Kopfhörers. Die verschiedenen Stimmen/Instrumente müssen trotz, dass sich vieles im selben Frequenzbereich abspielt, gut getrennt werden und heraushörbar sein. Hier liefert der Technics! Ebenso beim völlig andersartigen "When the sun drowns in dark" von Vader. Im direkten Vergleich mit dem B&W merkt man aber schon welcher Hörer da mehr Reserven hat. Bei Dissection "Where dead angels lie" und Misþyrming "Orgia" wird der Unterschied dann richtig deutlich, da löst der B&W besser auf und baut gleichzeitig noch mehr Druck auf. => 4 von 5 Sternen (der Bowers & Wilkins bekommt hier 5+ Sternchen) Synthetische Musik (z.B. Nora En Pure "Sign of the Times" oder Sevdaliza "Human") wird erwartungsgemäß gut ausgegeben. => 5 von 5 Sternen Klangunterschied bei aktiviertem und deaktiviertem Noise-Cancelling ist für mich eigentlich nicht wahrnehmbar. Da hat Technics sehr gute Arbeit geleistet. => 5 von 5 Sternen (B&O bekommt hier 1 Stern, B&W 4 Sterne) 4. App Ich finde die Technics App insgesamt sehr gut. Sie ist gut strukturiert, ohne Ablenkung, leicht zu bedienen und stabil. Mehr brauche ich nicht. Für mich die beste App im Vergleich mit denen von Bang & Olufsen oder Bowers & Wilkins. => 5 von 5 Sternen 5. Akkulaufzeit & Laden Lässt keine Wünsche offen. Ich denke, dass man durch die Möglichkeit des Schnellladens in Kombination mit versprochenen langen Akkulaufzeit selten in die Situation kommen wird, dass man plötzlich oder lange ohne Sound ist. Im Rahmen meines "kurzen" Tests kann ich dazu nichts genaues sagen, deshalb auch keine Bewertung von mir. 6. Verarbeitung & Anmutung Mit gefällt das Design und die Verarbeitung sehr gut, Ersteres sogar besser als beim B&W, letzteres allerdings schlechter. Die "helle" Variante sieht gut aus, allerdings bei näherem Hinschauen durch den vielen Kunststoff, nicht Premium. Da wirken B&O und B&W schon deutlich besser. => 4 von 5 Sternen Fazit: Ein sehr schöner, angenehm zu tragender Kopfhörer mit einem tollen Klang. Für mich sind Dinge wie der Trittschall oder das durch die Form verursachte Rauschen auch im ausgeschalteten Zustand oder der verbaute Kunststoff nicht dramatisch. Ich liebe den Klang und den Tragekomfort. Für den Preis top! Ach so, anfangs hatte ich die Frage gestellt, ob der Bower & Wilkins PX8 den doppelten Preis wert ist: Es ist ein bisschen Ansichtssache: Der B&W wirkt durch die perfekte Verarbeitung und den Materialmix sehr hochwertig. Ich finde den Tragekomfort durch den etwas strammeren Sitz noch besser als beim Technics. Klangmäßig hat mir der Technics bei Klassik besser gefallen (bevorzuge den kristallklaren Klang des Technics, vor dem warmen, intensiven Klang des B&W), bei Metal sieht es da aber anders aus. Insgesamt ist die Frage nicht ganz eindeutig, objektiv ist der B&W die bessere Hardware, subjektiv ist die Antwort für mich nicht so eindeutig. Wenn Geld keine Rolle spielt, würde ich den B&W knapp empfehlen. Ansonsten wird man mit dem Technics trotz kleiner Schwächen sicher glücklich. Noch was zur gewählten Musik: Das ist querbeet, aber nicht zufällig. Sunset oder the empire hab ich gewählt, weil sich daran so einige Kopfhörer die Zähne ausbeißen und reinen Klang-Matsch produzieren. Also ein Benchmark für die Auflösung und Präzision. Die Interpretation von Tchaikovskys Violinkonzert habe ich gewählt, weil Vadim Repin dies mit Metallsaiten spielt, eine Herausforderung nicht nur an den Spieler, sondern auch an Lautsprecher.
