Love this product! Makes great ice cream in less then an hour. I use it all the time, never will buy store bought ice cream again. Easy to use and clean up. Great investment and product!

More ice cream, please!
I'm so glad to finally have an ice cream maker for my home. It's easy to use and makes great ice cream. Well, it makes great ice cream if you have a great recipe. If I had to find something wrong with it, I would say it needs a lot of room in the freezer to get ready to make ice cream. I usually keep it in the freezer of my garage fridge. When I have not had a lot of freezer space, I have also removed my ice bin to make space for it. The only other thing I don't like is that it doesn't make much ice cream. If I wanted to make ice cream for the family, I would buy something else. Our family loves homemade ice cream, but I would have to start a couple of days in advance if I wanted to make enough for the kids and grandkids. As it is, I was aware of these things before I bought it. Nama and Papa like to sneak ice cream every chance we get.

Great purchase, should have done sooner.
I recently purchased the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment for my stand mixer, and I must say, it's been an absolute game-changer in my kitchen! As an avid ice cream lover, being able to whip up delicious frozen treats at home has been a dream come true. The attachment is incredibly easy to use. Just pop the freeze bowl in the freezer overnight, attach it to your KitchenAid stand mixer, pour in your ingredients, and let the mixer do the work. In no time at all, you'll have velvety smooth ice cream ready to enjoy. What I love most about this attachment is the endless variety it offers. From classic vanilla and chocolate to more adventurous flavors like mint chocolate chip or cookies and cream, the possibilities are endless. Plus, you have full control over the ingredients, so you can make healthier versions of your favorite treats or accommodate dietary restrictions with ease. Cleanup is a breeze too, making cleanup a simple and hassle-free process. Overall, I can't recommend the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment enough. It's well-built, easy to use, and produces consistently fantastic results. Whether you're a seasoned chef or just starting out in the kitchen, this attachment is sure to become a beloved staple in your culinary arsenal. Treat yourself and your loved ones to homemade ice cream perfection with this must-have accessory for any KitchenAid stand mixer!

Works well but check your stand mixer model number before ordering
It doesn't fit well onto my Kitchenaid Heavy Duty stand mixer, but that's my fault because I didn't know my model number when I ordered. I can make it work, but the mounting holes don't line up perfectly. I keep it in the freezer and have soft ice cream in under 30 minutes. I keep a glass storage container in the freezer to put the soft ice cream in to freeze harder.

Excellent for ice cream lovers!
This household consumes a lot of ice cream when I buy it. Can’t keep it for long, in fact. The cost of ice cream is also going up, and the containers getting smaller as well as all the additives. Decided to make my own ice cream. This attachment to my kitchen aid has been the best investment! Easy to use, super sturdy. I permanent store my bowl in the freezer so it’s ready to use in a moments notice. Takes about 30 minutes and the slowest stir speed, per instructions, so don’t try to speed it up. I’ve made several quarts now and no signs of cracking or leakage as mentioned in reviews. Easy to clean by just rinsing, and wiping only the exterior (or your towel will freeze to the sides). Am I saving money? Yes. A little, I use organic ingredients so savings is about 14 cents per ounce. If I used nonorganic, I would save more. Whether organic or not, you are still not getting the additives and such with store bought. It’s also sparked imagination as to what we can make. The latest was Hawaiian hula pie-inspired (Leilani’s in Maui - see photo) and chocolate peanut butter. Enjoy!

Instructions could be better.
I had two issues with the product, both minor. First, the connector attachment doesn't fit flush to the mixer, which makes it a bit awkward to setup - not difficult, just awkward. The instructions do not tell you that once you start churning the ice cream, you cannot stop until it is completed period. If you stop he mixer for any reason, do NOT restart it. If you do, the plastic connector will snap as the dasher will have frozen in the bowl. This happened to me when our power went out for about 30 seconds then came back on. I wasn't close enough to get to the mixer to stop it when the power came back on and I heard a loud snap and the connect plastic had broken. It would have been nice if there was a warning in the instructions about power outages. Overall though, the ice cream maker works well. I made a no-added sugar chocolate ice cream with sugar free chocolate chips mixed in as well as a pink champagne sorbet. Both were quick and easy. Clean-up is simple. The bowl does take up a large amount of my freezer space prior to making the ice cream. My freezer is set a -1 F, so it only takes about 15 minutes to churn the ice cream.

IDK if I will buy ice-cream again!
I bought this last July. I've haven't bought ice-cream since. Make sure you buy the KitchenAid brand. Here's the pros, cons and a few tips: Pros 1. The bowl is easy to figure out how to assemble. 2. Stays really cold for at least 25 minutes. 3. Easy to clean after each use. 4. The KitchenAid brand seems well made. Cons 1. I wish it came with some kind of blade scraper. Like most machines, the ice cream is difficult to get off of the paddle. 2. The bowl takes up a lot of space in the freezer. Tips 1. Freeze the bowl for a whole 24 hours instead of 16. 2. Separate your ice-cream custard into quart size mason jars and refrigerate so it's nice and cold before using it. The recipe I use makes 2 quarts so I have one for later. There's enough sugar and it'll keep a few weeks. 3. Only use a quart plus about a cup and a half of whatever ice cream custard and flavor. It might seem like there's a lot more room but as air incorporates, the ice cream will take up the whole bowl. 3. Mix the ice-cream on the slowest speed for 20-25 minutes. 4. Here's the recipe I use. I add salt too and mix my flavor in a bowl with a whisk before putting it in the maker. I suggest doing it that way because I have learned that the bowl is so cold, the paddle can freeze to the bowl.

Bowl & paddle are great, attachment piece is crap
**UPDATE: I reached out directly to Kitchen Aid and they replaced the broken piece at no charge as a one time courtesy. They also reminded me that ingredients should only be added AFTER the bowl and attachments are in place (which I thought I did). I’m adding back a star to 4. The reason I’m still keeping one off is that it shouldn’t have broken in the first place. I’ve used it again after receiving the new piece and works great! The bowl itself works great to freeze the ice cream. However, the piece that connects the Kitchen Aid mixer to the mixer paddle is crap! I used it twice and broke. Now I either have a useless bowl and paddle or I have to order a replacement piece from Kitchen Aid-SO frustrating!! (And I LOVE my Kitchen Aid mixer and have never had issues with other attachments)

I should haved bought this a long tiime ago. Ice cream maker is perfect!
Love this addition to my Kitchenaid mixer. I will never buy any ice cream again. I've made peach, strawberry, blueberry, lemon, (ice cream, sorbet and gelato), Baileys, and I'm just starting. Your limited to your imagination and the number of containers I have. It's so easy to use. I freeze the container for at least two days before I want to use it. I also put my ingredients together the night before and put it in the fridge. Once I'm ready to make the ice cream, I pull out the maker from the freezer and immediately use the fridge-cold mix. My ice cream takes a lot less time than the recipe says. I should have bought this a long time ago. The ice cream is so good: no preservatives, colouring of aritifical flavours. Pure and natural. This is a great addition and works very well. No I need to buy more ice cream containers (insulated from Amazon) so that can make more varieties. Summer is coming!

Helado casero!
Es un producto genial, solamente que en algunos congeladores va necesitar estar más tiempo en congelación para que pueda funcionar de manera adecuada, el tiempo de elaboración de la nieve ronda en los 20 minutos.

THE BEST ICE CREAM EVER
IS THERE ANYTHING my BIG RED can't do? ..... Well making fresh ice cream isn't one of them. BEST buy ever!, did my research, did the reading reviews and recipes and this is what I have found.... IF you do just what one person who previously reviewed this attachment suggests as soon as this arrives, take the bowl out of the box, wash in warm water, DRY completely and get that bowl i to your freezer! Ours arrived yesterday morning and we did just that, taking it out this morning to make our first batch of the most AMAZING DELICIOUS fresh ice cream! As others have said, the instructions as to how to attach the mechanism to my mixer, but Youtube videos made that clear. The paddle, or as ice cream makers refer to it, the "dasher" sits in the bottom of the bowl so you need not worry about how is it gonna work... it just does! I used a recipe I found on line, a simple 2 2 2 1 Two cups whipping cream, two cups half and half, two teaspoons of pure vanilla extract and one cup of sugar. As per the recipe, I predissolved my sugar in the half and half, then added the whipping cream and vanilla. I have a very "vintage" pyrex mixing bowl with a pourer spout which is perfect to pour into the frozen bowl. Once you have the attachment and bowl in place START your mixer on speed ONE (1) no higher, and SLOWLY pour in your liquid, set the timer because in precisely 20 minutes your ice cream is DONE! I could not believe it... So simple, and so delicious. This is THE BEST attachment I have EVER purchased for my Kitchenaid stand mixer! Great value! UPDATE two years later..... STILL PERFECT.... ZERO REGRETS in making this purchase, NO INVESTMENT....
