Orbiter Motor

I actually need to find the time to return this item. It seems to be fine - but the button to turn it on and off is on the very top and in order to use it - we need a step ladder. Not very convenient to use for a baby mobile.

I searched for this type of orbiter for some time. It stops and starts which creates different visual effects. Very nice. Battery life is several months for continuous use.

I purchased this to replace the motor for my Dancing Helix. It doesn't work as well as the original motor mainly because it only generates one short pulse every minute. The old motor had a longer "on" cycle that kept the helix spinning and generated much better patterns. It may be that this motor is not strong enough for the larger-sized Dancing Helix mobiles.

I ordered two of these motors. One for a Dancing Helix (very lightweight) and one for an optical illusion mobile that makes it appear as though a large glass ball is traveling up a metal spiral. The second mobile weighs only about 2.5 pounds and they give instructions for hanging mobiles that weigh more than 5 lbs. In both cases, the motors were a little loud but also threw both the Dancing Helix and the metal spiral to the floor. The hinge attached to the motor (via which you hang it from the ceiling hook) disconnected itself and appears to not be quite long enough to hold the motor (even for a light as air mobile like the Dancing Helix. I had to glue pieces back on to the Dancing Helix and I would beware of ordering this product until they have addressed quality control issues. I am willing to try new motors if contacted by the seller but not from this same Amazon shipment. I ordered the two motors about 10 days apart. So it wasn't just a case of two next to each other being defective. It's a shame. I've had these motors before when they were much larger and they were terrific.

Bought this motor to hang a mobile in the nursery. It is very easy to setup, just requires 3 AA batteries and a hook in the ceiling. I like how quite it is and that it only runs for a second once a minute, it basically twist the string on the mobile so that the mobile will spin on its own. The only thing that prevented me giving it five stars is the motor is a little fast for a mobile and I wish you could adjust the interval that the motor runs, but for the price it is a great alternative to the awkward arms that attach to the crib.

This is not as good as the previous letter I had but I can’t find the other when you have to adjust the settings from the motor itself

I love this motor, I bought it for a mobile I bought on Etsy that did not spin. Even though the mobile I have is very light the magic string that the motor uses to make it spin broke twice. Their customer service sent me out 3 new strings after the first one broke and I found that the thicker string they sent works a lot better than the string that comes with the motor.

The little rubber bands this device uses to suspend a mobile have broken not once but twice dropping the mobile on my 3 month old son. Back to the drawing board with this one
