Denong Tea Elegant Tranquility – 2015 Early Spring Harvest

This is an excellent tea, one of the best that I've found for sale on Amazon.Like nearly all of the teas that I buy, I let this cake rest in my storage cabinet to settle from transport. When I opened the cake, I was hit by a light floral smell on the dry leaf. When I put the leaf in a heated pot, there was an incredibly thick sweetness, with a intense floral character to it. I brewed the tea in a 120ml Yixing pot with 8 grams of the tea infused in boiling water.The liquor has a very nice color to it, a vibrant yellow, eventually gaining a greener cast to it, reminiscent of a green tea. The taste is very sweet in the first 5-ish steeps, becoming slowly more vegetal, again, like a green tea, with some astringency cropping up around the 7th steep, but always with that floral quality to it, kind of like a blend of lilies and orchids. The smell is very intense, strong florals, with slight bitterness after the first 4 steeps. In addition, the smell gains some slight vegetal notes in later steeps. The mouthfeel of the liquor is very potent in the 2nd and 3rd steeps, gradually tapering off as you go through the infusions. The nice florals drop off fairly quickly, only getting through perhaps 8 infusions, succumbing to astringency after steep 9.On to the quality of the tea!The quality of the base material is indisputable. It's got some very nice buds in it, with very good looking 2nd leaves (meaning from when they were on the bush). The color of the leaves is a deep olive, a decent indicator of quality. Most of the leaves are whole, though I noticed that a few were broken, though this may have been done by my puerh knife. Overall, it is similar in leaf-quality to other young cakes marketed to the West, which is, on the whole, of nice quality.For storage, this tea is really too young to get any kind of baseline for it. It was definitely not ruined by its stay in the Amazon warehouse, like some teas I know of. I think that if you treat this tea nicely, it will maintain its floral notes for the next few years, though I don't expect them to last more than three to four years, slowly becoming something else, which I can't predict.I would also like to point out that this tea has a fair amount of residual moisture still in the dry leaf. As this is a 2015 harvest tea, it has the characteristics that I've seen in other teas from that year. They are generally elegant and sweet, with only slight bits of that bitterness and raw strength, which is what ages into fantastic tea. 2015 had heavy rains, and that, mixed with the characteristics of this particular tea, would lead me to expect this tea to not age very well, though it is an incredible tea to drink young.Overall, this is a very nice tea. I have had better teas, but I think that this one is definitely among the best that I've found on Amazon.Please remember that I'm just a guy with a super fun hobby. My tastes might vary drastically from your own, so take mine and all reviews with a grain of salt.

Have reordered this tea many times. A great pue'rh tea. Have been drinking pue'rh raw tea for over fifteen years. I am 67 years old and drink it for health benefits. Have never drank coffee always tea. Love the flavor of raw pue'rh teas. Will continue to order from this company. This month I actually am trying another company only because I could not afford to buy this one again. Will miss it this month but will see how the other one goes. This tea is so smooth and has a beautiful light Amber color in the cup. Such a mellow smooth taste. Love it.

I'll start off by saying that I do enjoy this tea. It has its moments and it does make me feel pretty well. The reason I docked it two stars though is because it has a fishy flavor to it. With being a raw Pu'Er , that means they didn't allow the leaves to sit long enough before they compressed it. So, it is good. But, it definitely isn't worth 50 bucks at all due to it being processed the wrong way. Hopefully the company sees this review and grows from it. It was packaging was beautiful a d the leaves were high quality. They just processed it the wrong way and that's it.

I am really speechless!! It's Incredibly Aromatic & Elegant. The full bodied & rich taste last long on palate, which gets far much richer the more I steeped the tea leafs.. Highly Recommended for those who are in search of Premium & Unprecedented Quality Raw Puer with intense & sophisticated Aromatic Flavor....

This tea's packaging is so pretty. I love it! The tea smells a bit smoky but it has a soft and floral taste, the tea water is pure and light yellow. I think coffee drinker will love this tea. This tea can make me calm, just like its name suggests.

This raw Pu-er cake itself smells floral and fresh. The tea color is bright, light and soft. The tea taste smooth, aromatic and thick. I especially appreciate the touch of sweet after flavor. I'm more than delighted to find such a top-quality Puer Cake.

Good quality and taste

I visited Denong tea house in Pasadena ca! Super high end high quality teas. Very smooth, complex and refreshing teas. I will not buy any random brand ever again, when you buy from Denong every tea is top quality. I’ve visited many tea places and just picked a tea based on recommendation and expensive prices but this raw tea is amazing, for me my tea journey has ended... I found me tea!
