The horse I used it on was very large and there is a lot of room for adjustment so I would go for horse size unless he has a very small head.

Q: Is there a manual for this bridle?

Mine did not come with a manual but it is very easy to put on your horse if you already know how to bridle a horse. It is very good quality, more supple than most new bridles and good looking. We recommend.
