Autel MX808S-TS: Diagnose, Save, and Drive Confidently
Apologies for the long entry, but this is a pricey item that I debated over before ordering. My first OBD scanner was purchased after I was hit with an $80 bill to address a check engine light on my wifeโs Suburban. At the time, I bought a cable-tethered OBD-II reader mostly out of principle because charging $80 to clear a light caused by a loose gas cap seemed absurd. Since then, I have upgraded every 2 to 3 years. Smartphone-based readers have dropped in price, but the software quality and small screen size can be limiting. While more expensive than my smartphone OBD-II scanners, the features of the MaxiCheck MX808S-TS are really great. The yearly subscription is something to be aware of. You will still have most day-to-day and legacy diagnostic functionality, but you may miss new updates, new vehicle coverage, and possibly some advanced features introduced after your subscription expires. The OBD interface is truly a mechanicโs best friend because it lets the car tell you how it feels. Error codes help identify or confirm items that need attention. I drive a diesel, so I particularly value the ability to trigger a regeneration process and monitor temperatures during the process. The MaxiCheck library of vehicles is extensive, reports are thorough, and there are some module programming options. Updates are easy to perform, and the wireless connectivity is great. It also comes with a high-quality case that keeps everything safe. Personal Experiences and Examples Used Car Purchase: I have used it to check error codes before buying vehicles. This revealed issues that did not trigger a check engine light, which helped negotiate a lower price. Chevy Equinox VVT Issue: When the variable timing valves needed replacement, I was able to identify the issue myself. Parts were $30 each, and the fix took 30 minutes, saving a lot compared to dealership labor. Typical service costs: Check Engine Light Diagnostic: $88 to $111 (Larry H. Miller Chevrolet ) VVT/Timing Solenoid Replacement: $140 to $200 (RepairPal.com ) Battery and Alternator Testing: The scanner helps determine whether issues come from the battery or alternator. Smog-Check Preparation: I have used it to check if smog systems are ready, especially when the battery dies on older vehicles. MAF Sensor Replacement on 20-Year-Old Truck: I identified a failing MAF sensor. DIY repair took under 30 minutes, with parts costing $90 to $230. Professional replacement would typically cost $200 to $400. Body Module Testing: Recently, I experimented with body modules to activate individual servos. This helped identify a faulty servo on my sonโs Equinox. The part was $25, and replacement took about 2 hours. The equivalent dealership estimate would have been over $450. Overall Assessment This is an excellent tool for anyone who works on cars with some regularity. It helps diagnose problems before they escalate, saves money on labor and parts, and provides peace of mind when buying used vehicles. Whether checking engine codes, testing battery or alternator health, or exploring body modules, the Autel MaxiCheck MX808S-TS is a reliable and versatile scanner that keeps cars running efficiently.

Just what I needed in a scanner and more!
The Autel MX808S-TS scan tool is very user friendly. This is my third Autel product and Iโm very impressed with its capabilities and performance. Reasonably priced for such a power scan tool. I especially like all TPMS functions offered in the tool. Very easy to use. I absolutely love this tool. You wonโt be disappointed.

Autel MaxiCheck MX808S-TS Scanner
This is my second Autel Scanner, the first was a basic model and didn't have many features. Both units work excellent. I have never been in a situation where they didn't scan my system and tell me what my failure was. The new tuner has the ability to relearn TPMS systems and was also able to reset my BCM. These are great tools for the professional or do it yourself mechanic.

Good versatile scanner
Scanner is very useful and great for most common place diagnostics. Would be better if it offered a few more commands, such as gear relearn, ECT. Otherwise, very happy with the unit. Customer service is great also. Very responsive and good community.

Great tool for shade tree mechanics
I'm super happy with this tool so far. I have been able to use it to reset maintenance intervals, reset adaptations on an engine and transmission, and to monitor and chart some values to help in trouble shooting. It has lots of built in functions , more than I'll probably ever use. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes to work on their own modern cars.

Recommend
Love this thing. Really helps me properly diagnose my vehicles. Bluetooth feature is great so you can move around the vehicle while using the hot functions. Iโve already used it on most of my vehicles and some friends cars at work. I havenโt used the TPMS features yet but I have them when ready. Highly recommend you get a lot of the money vs other manufacturers.

Outstanding Diagnostic and Programming Tool!
The Autel MX808S-TS is absolutely amazing. I originally bought a tool that would not program TPMS and did not have Bluetooth. Those functions are definitely worth the extra price. I've already programmed four TPMS sensors in the last month or so, none of my friends or family have TPMS lights on anymore. The Bluetooth is also a must, you can watch live data and perform hot functions and send commands without being tied to the driver seat. I did a *lot* of research (and admittedly bought a MK808S first) before coming to the conclusion that the MX808S-TS is the best Autel tool to buy for the average user. The more expensive ones really don't do *that* much more and are far more expensive, and the cheaper ones don't have TPMS and Bluetooth. I've ran full diagnostic professional reports for all of my friends and family. I've diagnosed and fixed a catalyst system efficiency below threshold, a turbocharger excessively low output, a secondary air injection system malfunction, a door lock actuator that wouldn't work, four TPMS lights, and a few other small things using the live data and hot functions. My only problem now is that I am the go-to guy when anybody that I know has anything wrong with their vehicle.

Must have if your a car owner.
Already took care tire rotations on w vehicles, and diagnosed an airbag/seatbelt issue on another. My teenage driver was super happy when he hooked it up to his truck, it will pull up youtube videos on how to fix your issue based on the codes/vehicle. It does more than we need, haven't completely figured out how use all the functions yet.

Great tool
Love it. Has its limitations. Need to pay for a subscription to keep it up to date as well as an auto authority account to access features. Some features don't work but can't expect perfection for the price.
