Spectacular
I read this book a long time ago & l've lost count of the amount of times l've reread this series and this book.Tristan and morana are my comfort couple alongside Dante and amara and all the others. I just can't seem to get enough of them so l end up going back and rereading every single time. You don't know what REAL enemies to lovers is until you read this book/duet cuz it's a freaking masterpiece. I have a very serious obsession with Tristan and Morana & their relationship. It evolved so amazingly and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Purely addictive. And have I mentioned how obsessed I am with the last scene in this book?? Cuz I. AM. OBSESSED. Proud to say I got many people to read this series cuz it's my absolute favorite

Slow-burn romance and delicious tension
This first entry in RuNyx's Dark Verse series is solid, especially for a first release. It is a bit of a slow-burn, but the writing overall is good (although like with any first-time release by an indie author, this could have used an extra pair of eyes in the editing department to make things a bit tighter and cleaner. But the story itself is where it's at for me, so the small amount of errors isn't enough to dock this book a star).RuNyx really knows how to tell a story, and while her heroines and heroes may not be for everyone, she has a way of writing them in such a way that makes it near impossible for me not to connect with them on some level, and the characters in this story are no exception. Morana, Tristan, Dante, and Amara - I love, am fascinated by, and am emotionally invested in each one of them. In a world of crime and unabashed evil, these four - with their varying shades of gray - fascinated and effortlessly drew me in.Morana Vitalio is our heroine, and her feelings of loneliness and isolation in the face of growing up under a tyrannical and emotionally neglectful (and straight-up abusive) father was especially poignant. You'd think after all she's endured, she'd be subdued or a doormat, but no. This woman - even if she has a tendency to let her hot headedness get her into trouble - she's got a mettle to her that I can't help but admire. She's stubborn, she's got a temper, and the girl just burns hot.Tristan Caine, on the other hand, is the ice to her fire. He's our dangerous, brooding, intense hero/anti-hero, and as is typical for the dark mafia romance genre, he is dominant, stubborn, unrelenting, and intimidating. But underneath all of those layers of frosty anger and a capacity for great violence, we get a good look towards the end at his damaged center: that of a broken boy with a lifetime of trauma that has never had the chance to properly heal. The chemistry between these enemies-turned-lovers is gradual, but the attraction and interest is there from the start, even if it's unwanted by both parties for much of the book. The way these two try to keep an emotional distance between themselves, even when they start to explore their mutual attraction - the romantic in me found that so frustrating, but the enemies-to-lovers trash that I am loved the agonizing tension and yearning. RuNyx captures the explosive heat and passion of their encounters, but also follows it up with a believable lack of satiation that leaves all parties involved (us readers included) wholly unsatisfied and desperate for another go round. The revelation of Tristan and Morana's connection at the climax made so much sense, though, and considering the nuggets of foreshadowing we've been getting, I think I can guess what's to come in The Reaper, but we'll see if I've interpreted RuNyx's hints correctly.Overall, this was a solid story. Definitely more of a slow-burn than anything else - even with the action scenes, the pacing wasn't as fast as I would have expected. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note. But I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the follow-up to see where all this leads.

My life won't be the same after this book
It's been two months since I finished this book and there are two things I'd like to say1. It still has me in a chokehold. 🫠 Seriously, my life has not been the same ever since I met Tristan and Morana. But most importantly, it'll never be the same now that I know the power it is to read books written by RuNyx.2. I'm still mad at myself for only picking this series up this year. Like, what in the world was I thinking? Shame on me, seriously. This is, hands down, the best dark enemies to more enemies to maybe-sorta-kinda acquaintances to more enemies but throw some benefits there book to ever exist. RuNyx is a genius, a great mastermind behind this astonishing and addicting world, with characters who make you fall in love with them no matter how broken, no matter how troubling, no matter how dark they are.And I'm obsessed. I'm hooked. I'm in love. I dream Dark Verse. I breathe Dark Verse. I love Dark Verse. I need Dark Verse every single day of my life.Tristan Caine stole my heart from the very start. I knew there's just no way I wouldn't fall in love with this man. I craved his appearance in this book's pages like a mad woman, and every time I got glimpses of him I felt everything in me lighting up as it was the fourth of July. His presence is magnetic, hypnotic and addicting. I needed him as I needed air and whenever he appeared in the book it felt like my personal shot of ecstasy, and I was in a complete bliss.Throughout his life he's been put through hell, seen as nothing else but a monster to be molded at their wishes, to make sure he's useful when the time comes. Learning Tristan's story broke my heart, and I found myself crying and in physical pain for everything he's been through. I wanted to destroy everyone who caused him any distress the same way as I wanted to be there for him and prove to him that he's incredible, amazing, worthy of all the good in the world and all the love in the Universe. With time, the only person who earned Tristan's trust was Dante Maroni (gosh, I also love this man to pieces!) and their friendship is so special, unique and endearing I have no words.Morana Vitalio is my queen. She's such a badass and the ultimate IT genius. She's incredibly smart, confident, strong, passionate and fierce. I love her so very much! She wasn't surrounded by the nicest people throughout her life and she definitely wasn't treated in the best way, either. All her life she wanted to have some freedom and a few friends to rely on. It brought me so much joy when she met Dante and Amara and was able to create such special bond with them. I honestly admire Morana so much and I love her even more.Tristan and Morana are everything. Their first meeting will forever live in my head rent-free, it was that iconic.Their chemistry is mindblowing, undeniable and palpable since the very first time they meet. I knew once I met them they would become my favourite couple. Everything about them is phenomenal and I will never have enough of them. Each and every moment shared by them is held very dearly and protectively in my heart, and I will always be rooting for them. Tristan and Morana deserve all the goodness and all the happiness and love that has ever existed, and I find myself wanting to do absolutely everything to make sure they get exactly this.

Don't get the hype
First I wanna say that the book came with dirty marks on the inside. The marks was not just on one page but on pages through out the whole book. It also came without plastic cover so there's no way this was completely new, even tho I brought it as new with Prime. Anyway to my thoughts about the book.Okey, let me just say I don't get the hype and the 5 star reviews so many has giving this book. I don't understand how so many read this and said her writing was beautiful... I'm so, so sorry to burst everyone's bubble but this was not beautifully written. I can find other books that are more beautifully written, compared to this.I did find some parts was nicely written and I did enjoy the whole maffia story and the twist at the end but that was kind of it.I really tried to enjoy it as everyone else in the reviews did but as a whole there was just a bit too much I didn't like about it.The frist and main thing I didn't like and also the most annoying one about this book was the constent repeating of words and sentences. It made me so irritated to the point were I almost give up and wanted throw the book way. There are other ways to describe a situation without having to use the word "moment", contently on every single page. I wish I had counted how many times she used that word. At one point that word was on a page repeated 4 times and then again on the next and then before that page, like 3 times. That ruined the whole reading experience for me. I can't stand it when a author have no other words to use in their vocabulary and keep repeating themselves. It was not just that word but also sentences and descriptions being used over and over again, sometimes just in different ways. For an example everytime when Morana looked at or locked eye with Tristan, she never stopped pointing out his magnificent blue eyes or his hard muscles, which was all the time 🙄 Stop repeating yourself! It was extremely annoying to me to read this constant repeating. It's insane to me how this was published like this, and how the editing was this bad it seemed like none was done at all.I did however, like I said enjoy the story, it was interesting and she did make me wanna continue reading, despite her lack of trying to use other words then "moment". And I do wanna know what's gonna happen next but at the same time I don't wanna spent money on the rest of the book series. I don't wanna own that many books if I ain't gonna read them again, which I don't think I will. How she even manage to get that many books published is beyond me. I guess people haven't read really freaking good books if this was a 5 star.

I’m mad at myself for not reading this sooner ✨
— 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"Don't you know not to run away from predators, sweetheart? We like the hunt."📖 | 374 pages👤 | author RuNyx🏢 | published independently📅 | release date 1 January 2020What you can expect:— Adult Contemporary Dark Romance— First Instalment In A Series— Third-Person POV— Morana X Tristan— Enemies-to-Lovers— Rival Families— Forced Proximity— 'One Time To Get It Out Of Their Systems'— Mafia Families— Found Family— Check TWsTrigger & Content Warnings include: human trafficking, sexual assault (groping), parental abandonment, child abuse, drugging, blood depiction, death of a father (past, on-page), murder, gun violence, torture (mentioned), kidnapping of a child. The Predator is the first instalment in the Dark Verse series by author RuNyx. In the dark underbelly of the mob, Tristan Caine has been an anomaly. As the only non-blooded member in the high circle of the Tenebrae Outfit, he is an enigma to all - his skills unparalleled, his morality questionable, and his motives unknown. He is lethal and he knows it. As does Morana Vitalio, the genius extraordinaire daughter of the rival family. What Caine does with weapons, Morana does with computers. When a twenty-year old mystery resurfaces, Morana infiltrates Caine's house with the intent on killing him and unaware of a tie that binds them together. Hate, heat, and history clash together with unexpected sparks. But something bigger, something worse is happening in their world. And despite their animosity, only they can fight it down.Wheeeeeew this book. Wow. I'm fairly new to the Dark Romance genre as a whole, however the Dark Verse series is one that I've seen recommended and hyped for some time now. It honestly has not disappointed. Author RuNyx has weaved an intricate web of bloody history, deadly characters and forbidden romances. I was intrigued from the very first page, and gripping my seat by the very end. Addictive doesn't even begin to cover how incredible this story is... and this is only book one. The Predator flawlessly establishes the beginning to a mystery that will span across a total of six books for the series, and yet independently stands out thanks to its main characters.Morana Vitalio is a queen and I will not hear any different. Constantly cast aside and ostracised by her father, Morana doesn't have anybody to consider a friend or a confidant. When Morana's ex-boyfriend's steals a dangerous set of codes with the intention of selling them, Morana has to do whatever it takes to get them back and avoid them landing in the wrong hands. This endeavour takes Morana on a dangerous and thrilling journey filled with difficult truths and complicated feelings for a certain dangerous man. Tristan Caine is such an interesting and mysterious character from the beginning. Known as the deadly 'Predator', Tristan harbours a hidden loathing from an otherwise unbeknownst Morana that soon comes to light as the story progress. Tristan and Morana's unwilling professional relationship is all bark and bite... and yet you cannot help but swoon at their apparent chemistry and tension. There's so much unknowns regarding their volatile relationship which just makes it all the more interesting and engaging. I loved that Morana wasn't afraid to dish back on everything that Tristan had to give... just as I love all of Tristan's mysterious quirks that you come to learn have meaning. I've seriously not been hot for a couple like this is so long... and I cannot get enough. Wow.The Predator is one of the best books that I have read, and I am absolutely feral for the continuation of Tristan and Morana's duet in The Reaper. The Dark Verse series is a story that spans across six interconnected books that have to be read in order to understand the continued plot despite the change of focus on different couples.
