One of Gary's better, more recent recordings
Having purchased and listened to just about every Gary Burton album there is, I must say, in the last 15 or so years they have been hit or miss. Some have been very vibrant and innovative (such as the recordings with Makoto Ozone which are a bit tighter than the duets with Chick) but others have been rather bland and unmemorable. This one however, is simply great from end to end. Give it a listen!

The New Gary Burton Quartet, Revisited
Personnel:Gary Burton - VibraphoneJulian Lage - GuitarScott Colley - BassAntonio Sanchez - DrumsAnother great Burton release, this quartet outing is full of great group dynamics and high energy levels. If you are familiar with their last CD "Common Ground" this record is very similar in approach and sound (recorded in the same NYC Studio). Most of the tunes are medium tempo grooves with intricate melodies and strong solo playing. Colley and Sanchez have an excellent rapport and provide strong support, perhaps somewhat heavy handed, throughout. Lage and Burton have been playing together since Lage was 12 years old and the connection they have developed is strong and clear. Recommended.

An amazing album
Wonderful album, beautiful sound quality. Outstanding musicianship and fantastic compositions. Each player has ample opportunity to shine in this recording. One of the best albums that I have heard in several years.

Great CD
This CD is wonderful, with what I think is some of Gary Burton's best songs. As far as the service provided, the package arrived quickly and in the expected condition.

Sense of direction
This is absolutely first class. I have been skeptical regarding some of the previous Gary Burton's releases but this one has clearly exceeded my expectations. In addition to the vibraphonist, all other performers are equally great and have their distinct role. The music on the disk is full of new fresh ideas, nice, simple but intellectual. The sound is crisp and transparent. In some sense, Gary Burton gives an indication on the direction this kind of music should evolve. What else is left to be desired?
