Aqara Motion Sensor P1, REQUIRES AQARA HUB, 5-Year Battery Life, Configurable Detection Timeout, for Alert System and Automations, Compatible with HomeKit, Alexa, IFTTT

First off, this paired quickly and easily with my Sonoff Zigbee stick in Home Assistant, so ignore all of those that say it can only be used with Aqara hubs. It's a great sensor, detecting motion quickly. I like the fact that it also has a luminance sensor that I can automate off of to make the sensor only do stuff if it's dark. Only drawback is the supplied sticky pad only stayed stuck to my door frame for 5 days. Yes, I had cleaned the frame properly beforehand. Also, the sensor itself sticks to the mounting attachment using a sticky pad that they only supply one of. That wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that you have to remove it to change the battery. Given that, they should have supplied enough to last the lifetime of the product.

Having bought the earlier model, I was keen to get hold of this one. Can safely say I'm impressed with its motion detection and lux sensor. My home automations are making great use of it as it's really fast at updating its status

Bought this to provide some motion sensing automations either under Alexa or Apple HomeKit to replace a SwitchBot motion sensor. Initially set up a routine in Alexa essentially replacing the routine that was being used for the SwitchBot sensor. No problems getting it set up, but despite the Aqara providing feedback that the motion sensor is working, Alexa completely ignores it. So I thought I'll try the same thing in HomeKit as it is HomeKit compatible, but no, same issue. I then did a quick search online and can find issues dating back to 2021, therefore this appears to be a long outstanding issue that hasn't;t been resolved, so it looks like I'll going to have to return it as what's the use of a motion sensor that doesn't sense motion other than within Aqara's own (limited product line) app?? Update - following leaving this review I was contacted by Aqara directly who help to investigate what the issue was and this has now been resolved (thanks Naomi). The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that not all of the sensors (light etc) are available to platforms outside of the Aqara app, so if you want to use it as a motion sensor but only when it's dark it won't work as neither Alexa nor Apple HomeKit are exposed to this light sensor which is a shame, but as a motion sensor it's very quick and very small and discreet.

I have been using the Aqara Motion Sensor for some time now and I’m completely happy with it. The new P1 is just better. It has more features and seems to have better detection. Whether its worth the extra cost is a personal decision as the original sensor is fine for 90% of applications.

If you just want a PIR motion sensor, this is a great choice. It's incredibly fast and can clear down fairly smartly too. It's actually quite impressive. What works less well is the illuminance sensor- I wondered at first if it only updated when the PIR fired or similar, but no, it just seems to be intermittent and very unreliable (at least with ZHA). For this reason, I'll probably end up replacing it for the stereotypical "turn on the light if there's movement and it's dark" automation use-case. I'd love to see an updated version of this with working illuminance, as it's otherwise great- affordable, small, and usefully quick to respond.

This device works well out of the box. Small, easy to place and integrates smoothly with home assistant.

It DOES not work with alexa. Despite installing the bridge etc etc once you set up a routine for “when NO MOTION is detected” it will only turn off lights if set to “after 0 seconds” as apposed to 10 minutes. It turns lights on and off whilst still in the room also. Sadly will not be using at all as intended.

Fast. Stable. Simple. Easy to connect. No cloud if you don't want it. I find the Lux sensors accurate enough to control lighting. The ping light is bright enough to cause a flash do you don't miss it if you need it and it's got great functionality. At about $20 it's a great buy. Smaller than you'd expect, it blends right in!

The range is pretty far so set this up high or tape the lower half if you have pets! Works flawlessly on mqtt

Går även att smyga förbi sensorerna om detta görs mycket långsamt. Stort plus är att man kan konfigurera sensortiden, osv.
