I would suggest putting marbles in the bottom so the birds don't drowned if you are raising something small like quail.

Works well with a 1-quart jar feeder for water. No leakage at all. Even managed to use a regular widemouth mason jar on it without any problem.Make sure the base it leveled or it may not fill properly.
