A few months ago, our garage refrigerator failed during a heat wave. Luckily, we were able to get a replacement delivered within 3 hours. However, the freezer section is slightly smaller than our old model. Any items that made slight contact with the door sometimes caused the seal to open just a crack. Since this appliance isn't in our kitchen, the door could be slightly ajar for hours without anyone noticing, which could lead to food defrosting. Rather than add an alarm, a childproof lock seemed like the best solution. Directions of the first lock I chose suggested it might require 2 hands to operate. Rather than install it, I returned that model & ordered this. Not only is this lock very easy to mount, it works perfectly---secures the door, while still being easy to operate. While an adult can easily open the door with 1 hand, it's unlikely a child could manage to depress both buttons at once. Another plus is that the contact adhesive is secure, but could be removed without damaging the appliance's finish. I would definitely order this product again, whether to keep a refrigerator or freezer door tightly closed or prevent a young child from opening the door.

I purchased this product for an old upright freezer in our basement, not for childproofing. We tend to keep it very full, and the door has popped open twice, resulting in thawed/unsafe food by the time we found it. The seal on the door isn't strong anymore, so anything that presses against the door, or loading the door with heavy items can be a problem. This simple, inexpensive and easy to use gadget did the trick beautifully! It was easy to install by sticking the 3M tape to the cleaned freezer surface. It opens with one hand and closes securely by clicking the door into place. I also like that you can disengage the lock if you are unloading groceries or rearranging the freezer contents. This <$10 item can potentially save hundreds in food loss for us. I have already recommended it to family members!

Functions as described. Keeps my two year old granddaughter out of the fridge which was a constant problem. She gave me the dirtiest look the first time she couldn’t open the fridge door. She has gotten used to it now and when she isn’t here I like the fact that I can set it to stay unlocked. I got one for her other grandmother that the 2 year old lives with and she said that it was a gift from heaven since she doesn’t have to run after her all the time now.

it is excellent for keeping racoons out of your fridge!! be careful when you install it, it sticks hard and fast, make sure you have it exactly where you want it. Fridge saved, they figured out the freezer so just ordered another one-little rascals, also really easy for adults to use

The lock is easy to install. A plus is you can turn the locking part off when you will be opening the freezer frequently, say when you get back from shopping.

Our refrigerator door would bounce back open when the door was flipped shut. This fridge lock works perfectly. Easy to install.

super easy to install and does the job.. you still have to ensure door is shut but once it is, it stays closed. Easy to then open as needed. We find it does it's intended purpose.

Lo compré para evitar el acceso al congelador de una persona mayor con cierta demencia. Es bastante discreto, aunque parezca grande, porque no hay cable ni cerradura de contraseña que le llamen la atención. Lo que más me ha gustado es el ingenioso sistema de apertura. Hay que apretar las dos patillas traseras a la vez por lo que no es intuitivo. El resultado ha sido muy bueno.

This is the second one purchased, this time for the freezer part of a fridge freezer. Found the same as last time to use a small sharp knife to start lifting off glue pad. The lock quality is very good and no sticking found. It's very functional and great value for money.
