Wonderfully entertaining- and informative!
I didn't know what I was getting into when I tried a sample but was immediately sucked into MF's narrative. Who knew that there is so much to know about an oyster and what fun reading about it!

Fun short read
Definitely fun to read such a peculiarly specific book from a past decade. Very quick read. I feel like I have more questions than answers as I finish it haha.

A classic gastronomic tome
Long before the internet was a go-to for all things culinary, MFK Fisher told us what and how to cook. She channels Strunk and White with her direct and entertaining style of writing. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys and cooks food.

By the Dozen
A truly flavorful short read. So delighted that I happened upon this title in a NYT’s article on oyster farming.

Always a pleasure
With wit and billowy prose, MFK Fischer drops the reader into the magic world of the oyster. From cozy British pubs to east coast seaside shucks or a loaf she never quite ate, but nevertheless remembers well, the stories are filled in with smattering of recipes consisting of mostly butter and oysters. If you're not looking for oyster houses by chapter two, I'll eat my hat.

Memoir of a Gourmandise
MFK Fisher has a beautiful writing style along with a wry wit and deep insight regarding any subject she takes on. Consider the Oyster is much more than a 'cookbook', although there are a number of oyster recipes within it's covers and less than a 'history' of the oyster, although there is a great deal of factual information about this bivalve in the book. It is truly a memoir of "gourmandise" and a slim but delightful book. Highly recommended

Oysters in every way
I love MFK Fisher. A lovely discussion of the ways to eat and cook (all involving butter) oysters. I have no criticism.

Ode to the bivalve
A beautifully written ode to the delicious bivalve. Get ready to shuck your own or drive to the oyster bar after reading! The Kindle version has a couple of typos, but it's well-worth the cost.

Makes you hungry for oysters
Loved the book as I love M K Fisher . The only downside being quite a short book.

The world is my oyster
This wonderfully written book is most amusing and informative. Not only did I learn a lot about oysters which I did not know but I also learnt many ways of preparing them that I had never heard of. It has indeed opened a whole new world.
