Unfortunately, this is one of the great mysteries of our time. The ad says this product is safe for food storage, but the buckets do not have any recycling numbers on the bottom, so I have my doubts. I posted a similar question and got no response. I now own 3 black buckets that will be used to store motor oil because I can't get any verification that they're actually food safe. Any plastic with one of the recognizable recycling numbers on it will be BPA free if made after 2012. These buckets bare no such number. I think this ad/product should be flagged for misinformation.

Unfortunately no, we had to buy separately.

Are there any lids that are compatible with these buckets?

I'm struggling to find lids for these buckets as well. I've tried two different types that say they fit 5 gal buckets, but neither fit properly.
