Perfect fit replacement for my cluster mailbox. I had purchased a cheaper item that had a lip on it. This item is an exact match and fit flush to the mailbox plate. The brass keys and tumbler were a little hard to work at first but a shot of lubricant in the cylinder was a quick fix. Very happy to have 3 keys again. Super easy installation... If you ever left your key in the mailbox you know what a pain it is to have the post office come out and change the lock. This was cheaper than what the PO wanted, to do the same job. It took about 15 minutes to replace the old lock with the new lock. It was super easy. Sorry, no picture we all know what a mailbox looks like.

Most of the replacement mailbox locks sold on Amazon seem to be "universal" replacements. The first one I bought of that sort worked, but it just barely covered the hole in the mailbox door. I returned it and got this -1172 version that the Post Office recommends and it is a perfect fit. For the price, however, it is kind of cheap that they don't include all the parts you need, rather than assuming you'll take them off the old lock, but that does work. And while the quality seems fine, the 3 keys supplied are all a bit of a struggle to pull out of the lock....perhaps that will improve with time? Thus only 4 stars.

This product was as advertised easy to install. Make you save your old locking latch. Don't waste your time going to your local hardware store. It won't fit . You have to use this model.
