Whoever packed this thing should get fired.
Every time I get a new PC,I am impressed with the performance. This thing is great for processor speed, memory, etc. And I must credit the HP packaging that allowed it to survive the secondary packaging. I watched the UPS guy toss it like a sack of rotten potatoes and when I realized how badly packaged it was, I was amazed to see it operate OK.

Easy to set up, almost everything worked flawlessly first time
I've only had this for a week so this is very preliminary. But observations so far ...Boots very fast, much faster than my old laptop (which is about 5 years old now). Works beautifully with my external monitor, just plugged it in with an HDMI cable and it worked. Works beautifully with an external drive. Again, just plugged it in and it worked. I got the 1 TB drive which is a ridiculous amount of space. I ported everything from my old computer -- which is over 20 years worth of accumulated data, ported from computer to computer -- installed a bunch of software, and it all came to 103 GB. Also connected to my home wifi network no problem, and I installed my printer driver and that's worked first time no problem. It comes defaulting to the Documents folder being under OneDrive, which I found a super pain. I have way more data than the free 5 GB and I don't intend to pay for more, I'd rather just back up to an external drive myself. Maybe this will prove foolish if the drive fails and I've neglected backups -- we'll see. But I'm getting slews of error message about exceeding my 5 GB, I've got to figure out how to turn that off. The setup process also forced me to create an account with Microsoft which, well, why?It only has 2 USB ports, which I find limiting. I routinely plug in a trackball, which leaves me just one port. I wanted to copy some data from an external hard drive to a USB stick, and ... I was out of ports. I bought a USB hub, and that's the one device that seems to have trouble playing nice with this HP. I don't know if that's the fault of the hub, the laptop, or me doing something stupid.Minor quible: The page up/down keys are far away from the cursor control keys, which I find awkward.

Love my new HP Laptop
I ordered this past Tuesday 7/11/23 , OI was supposed to get it delivered this coming Monday 7/17/23 but it came earlier than expected and so far I love it. It wasn't hard to set up at all, I like that the keys are nice and big and not right next to each other like my old laptop. So far I'm getting used to this and it even downloaded some old games from a CD. I love the red color of the case and the silver keys.

software/os problems
i have always had good service from all HP laptops, however with this one there was an issue with windows 11 OS that HP could not address and would need to pay Microsoft to fix , new laptops need to work this one did not , back it went . The issue was the file explorer would crash , no fixes that worked , no update to fix it , corupted OS files who knows , it did not work

HP is a good product
Not crazy about Windows 11 as l absolutely am not allowed to skip having a pin to log on everytime I start the computer, but that has nothing to do with HP. The computer itself is quiet and so far everything is working as I expect it to. Do wish Windows would stop trying to secure my device for me though.
