Large platform, oval & 15" x 9" the hoop is 11" wide x 12" high. Good for larger cats too. Be sure to put catnip on it! It doesn't tip over unless very playful moods happen.

Easy to use, my cat just didn't like it!
Got this for a cat that loved to be petted and brushed. He didn't really like it and I was really surprised! The bristles on the scratcher were a bit hard (he's a shorthair, maybe it would work better for a fluffier/longhair cat?), but it was sturdy and fit into the base without popping out!

Our three cats love this thing!
Our three cats have been using this Cat Magnet for several months. We were surprised that all three rub against up it. It's a great object for their affection when we're not at home. We see them using it quite often, actually. The base of the unit is large enough that it doesn't tip over, since the cat is typically standing or sitting on it to rub against it. Our cats have been able to 'rub it across the room' a few times but I think that might be part of the fun for them. We just wedged it between the wall and another piece of furniture to help keep it more stationary. The arch is very pokey and might hurt a child's fingers (or an adult's for that matter) so you have to pick it up by the base. We haven't figured out how to effectively clean it, so that might be a problem for some people.

Ok, not great
My cat loves to brush up against scratching posts so when I saw this I knew it would be perfect for her. She does like to use it but every few weeks it comes undone. The brush arch isn't fixed into the base very well (you basically just push it in but it doesn't lock or allow itself to be pushed down very well. The base also isn't very heavy so it slides about if it's on non carpeted floors so we finally had to wedge it under a tall end table so it would stay in place when she uses it. It's a good idea, just could be a bit sturdier.

So Far No Luck
I had been eyeing the Cat Magnet for quite some time. It seemed like a perfect idea and the price was not too bad. I had no trouble assembling the Cat Magnet and my 2 cats seemed very fascinated initially. But they quickly lost interest and the poor Cat Magnet has just been sitting there being neglected. All cat guardians know that cats can be very persnickety so it could be that they do not like the Cat Magnet itself or it could be that I just have not found the right placement for it. I'll try moving the Cat Magnet around some more and see if I can't get my 2 cats interested.Overall, the idea seems clever, the Cat Magnet itself seems to be made of sturdy materials, and it does not take up a lot of space but, unfortunately, my 2 cats are not interested at all. 3 Stars because a clever item is getting no use.

Serves purpose
The cat we bought this for uses and enjoys it. My only complaint is that it required some assembly and the bristles are so sharp I needed work gloves (my alternative was oven mitts) to manually attach bristled post to base by pushing the ends into predrilled holes...ouch. And to my dismay, although I pushed the ends in as deeply as physically possible, 2 months later one end popped up and needed to be re-attached to base. Ouchie, again. I cannot suggest any other way to engineer this product or assemble it any better than instructions describe, so just make sure you've got some thick work gloves or a pair of oven mitts handy to protect our hands when putting together.

My cats don't completely ignore it!
... Which is about as much of a ringing endorsement as any cat owner can give something designed for cats, by humans. (Lord knows, I've stopped buying toys and just bring home cardboard boxes from time to time, since my cats won't play with any actual cat toys.)My older cat likes to chew on the bristles, but while he'll rub his face on everything from dirty sneaker soles to banana peels, he only ever rubs his face on this thing when my younger cat decides to show an interest in it. Which is pretty much only when I sprinkle catnip on it.The Cat Magnet sure traps a lot of loose cat hair, but even if you have American shorthairs like mine, this is not a good substitute for regular brushings. Also, if your cats are as big as mine, they might accidentally "unplug" one end of the loop from time to time, and then you need to put oven mitts on to firmly plant the bristle back in place. So that's kind of a pain.

Cats love it. My opinion is irrelevant.
I bought an identical product from a pet store about 6 years ago. The cats were all over it for 15 minutes, then didn't touch it. We held on to the darn thing, but didn't see much use in keeping it. Then, about two years ago, I was looking at it and noticed a few things. 1) It was full of cat hair and 2) The bristles were starting to get worn out. They were using it! Since then, I've seen them using it to scratch their little chins when no one is available to do it for them. So, just because you don't see them use it, that doesn't mean they aren't when you're not around. After much use, Santa is bringing the kitties a replacement this year. They'll be so happy to see it.

It is great. It is much better than any soft one
It is great. It is much better than any soft one. It does not fell apart. I like that the bristles are sharp, and the cat loves it. The cats do need good skin scratch, I think. Well, I can not force her to so it, she does it on her own. It is the best place when I need to brush her as it keeps her close by. Otherwise, when I brush her, she wanders around. She plays with it if I put some catnip on it.
