Simple, effective and robust
This simple, robust grill surface does exactly what I had hoped. It is stable, spreads heat well across the grill and has a simple, reliable construction. I have cooked on it several times now over an open fire and find that you can effectively burn the surface clean after use with a little brushing so it is very low maintenance. You can vary the heat by moving embers around underneath or by tilting it slightly in the fire so you have a lower hotter end and a cooler higher end.It folds away almost flat so takes up hardly any storage space compared to a bbq and would suit those who enjoy a campfire & bushcraft cookery. It's too heavy, however, to be a realistic option for self-supported wildcamping unless you like to lug a lot of weight around. The price is very fair for something that should last for years and it's by far the best grill of its type I've found with folding legs.

Do not use!
I bought this based on two factors: 1) I already own a Camp Chef Explorer outdoor stove, which is excellent and 2) all of the glowing reviews.Firstly, when opened up, the grill doesn't sit flat as the legs are not of equal and even size. Secondly, the entire underside edge of the diamond-shaped top is razor sharp and is very, very likely to result in cut fingers whilst cleaning. Thirdly, the entire grill is painted with ordinary paint and not a heat-proof paint (it blistered and burnt off the first time a heat source was placed underneath, giving off a toxic smell)...The first issue can be addressed quite easily by adjusting the ground level where you want to use it. The second issue is just plain dangerous! The third point makes the grill not fit for purpose as you cannot cook directly on the grill as the advertisement suggests. If you do use it from new then you will be cooking the paint and chemicals into your food; if you burn off all of the paint first, then (because it is made from cheap metal) it will rust and cooking your steak on a rusty grill is also inadvisable! This grill is going straight in the bin and I will be using a spare stainless steel shelf from an ordinary kitchen oven. I cannot help wondering if I received a cheap, Chinese copy?

Great camp-fire grill
For some reason the legs on our one don't open out to the same degree, so it doesn't sit level and the jacket potatoes would roll down it. That said, with the height adjusted, and sat over the camp firepit, it cooks just brilliantly. With a pair of fire gloves, you can lift it on and off the fire to add more fuel underneath, and it made a fantastic job of a couple of giant rump steaks.Pretty easy to clean if there's a big sink at the campsite, but the black coating has started to come off after just a couple of cleans with a brush. Not gonna stop using it though, unless the coating starts coming off on the food.

Great camping kit.
I bought this to take to a campsite that had fire pits. It worked well wedged within the bowl with its legs folded up. It would also be great over a fire on the ground. The grill is a diamond pattern so you don't lose food by dropping it between the bars like on other grills. I like this a lot. It's worth buying heat proof gloves too so you can reposition it as needed. Only downside is it's so big it won't fit in a sink so it's hard to clean.

Find it very useful at Base Camp
Surprisingly lightweight, but robust and functional. Find it very useful at Base Camp, and is now part of our standard base-camp equipment.
