I love this thing!!! I had one of those expandable bamboo ones for 10 years. There was nothing wrong with it but we moved to a new house that had brand new cabinetry. I brought my old bamboo tray with me but when I'm saw that this actually didn't cost that much more than the bamboo stuff, I had to get it. This one matches the cabinets completely perfectly and looks custom. I only had to trim it slightly (electric table saw). And it fits seamlessly in my drawer, side to side / end to end. Not sure anyone else in my family noticed that I changed out the bamboo one for this one but it makes me happy every time I go for a spoon! If you are on the fence, do yourself a favor and just get it! This worked out so well for me that I'm going to get the in-drawer knife organizer next. My collection deserves it! Note: I cannot recommended this if you do not have the proper tools to trim it and do not have anyone who can help you (friend, neighbor, handyman). If that is the case, then pass. Sawing manually with hand-held saws will likely only damage the wood and finish.

Classy fit. I have a 36" large drawer that I didn't have to trim at all, in fact I added an extra side block. Solid, high quality wood. 30 year old me would slap me across the face for spending this much money on a drawer insert but 30 year old me wasted money on rent so...

Bought as an insert for new Kraftmaid kitchen cabinets. They look custom! Really nicely sized spaces for the different cutlery. I also bought the utensil organizer.

If you're looking for a stylish alternative to the cheap-looking plastic cutlery trays, this is your answer. This tray is high quality, both in terms of construction and looks. The one big catch with this tray is that you must cut it yourself (or pay someone to cut it for you) with a table saw in order to have it fit your drawer. The tray has a solid wood base, about 1/2" thick, which rests on the drawer bottom. This means that you lose a small amount of vertical storage space in the drawer. However, this was worth it to me since it now looks as though the drawer was custom built to hold cutlery. The wood (maple) is light in color, so I believe it will match best if the inside of your drawers are also light in color. You may be able to stain it darker, but I have not tried this since I did not need to. Also note: This unit will work best with a wider drawer - between 18" and 22". If your drawer is less than 16" wide, I would not order this as you may need to cut into the actual cutlery storage compartments instead of the "auxiliary" compartments on the side.

A well-constructed product that uses metal screws that are flush to the underside of the organizer to fasten the upright slats. Based on your drawer size, you are most likely going to have to trim the organizer down to size. To make precise, straight cuts, I recommend a table saw or a miter saw. I rented a table saw and made three cuts to the organizer pictured. If your measurements and associated cuts are precise, the organizer will fit snugly into the drawer without further work. The only issue I did not anticipate were the sparks that occurred when I nicked one of the metal screws as I was cutting. The table saw cut through the screw with no problem and it did not damage or weaken the organizer, but I just wanted to point that out. Impressed with the quality of this product and will be buying more. My final recommendation -- make sure you make cuts with the proper equipment.

While this is a very nice item, and it can be cut fit as described, you would need a very good saw and some skill to trim it to fit your drawer. It is also very heavy. We will be returning this item.

The installation was complicated by a metal bevel in my drawer, but despite the considerable effort required, it was well worthwhile. You can't beat a custom fit, and the overall quality is excellent.
