Herbal Healing for Children

Must have for all families
Excellent go-to resource for anyone that cares for kids, but also great for the whole family. Conservative approach to herbs so there are no concerns about using herbs that could potentially be unsafe for kids. As a midwife, herbalist, and parent... i have a LOT of herbal resources, and this is one I love to lay out at meetups and gift to new families.

Loved it so much I orded a copy for my sister!
As someone who offend buys books heavy dependent on the descriptions in reviews I figured I should write one myself. love this book! I am familiar with local herbs in my area and practice regular foraging as well as making my own medicines for my family. When I found out I was pregnant I ordered a handful of books in search of something directed towards infants and young children. This book is great for beginners as it teaches basic herb processing and prepping techniques. It is also great for more intermediate users because it has quick easy recipes requiring herbs that are generally easy to find growing or in local health food stores. I would highly recommend this book! If you end up liking this book you will also love "A Kid's Herb book" by Lesley Tierra. My two favorite herbal books at the moment!

Good Book for Herbal Healing in Children
This book is wonderful. It tells you what is used to cure what. The 1st Chapter: An Introduction to Herbalism, 2nd Chapter: The Herbal Chest: Commonly Used Herbs, 3rd Chapter: Remedies for Common Childhood Illnesses, 4th Chapter: Buying, Gathering, and Preparing Herbs, 5th Chapter: Making Your Own Herbal Remedies (Shows which essential oils that always need to be diluted, which essential oils to avoid, which essential oils are known irritants, which essential oils that make you avoid sunshine if using, etc.), 6th Chapter: Easy Recipes for Homemade Remedies, A Section: Three Fun Herb Gardens, and B Section: Herbs as Nutritional Supplements. This book is power-packed with good information. The Foreword is interesting too. I would highly recommend this book to parents with children who are looking to go down a more natural healing path. Of course, I am not a doctor. This book makes excellent reference material, but you should always consult with a qualified Herbalist before trying to use essential oils, etc.

Great book!
As a mother of four, a Certified Health Coach and a Director/Owner of two childcare centers....I highly recommend this book. The author, Demetria talks about herbal styles before she jumps into the actual herbs. It's wonderfully organized and not a lengthy read. It's easy to read and she has great herbal remedies. This books title says "children" but this book is good for young adults, middle aged adults everyone. She even has a great remedy for facial toner, mental problems, flu, everything! Great for beginners. Once you become versed in herbal medicines you will learn to use one herb rather than combinations. One more thing I really like about this book is that Demetria touched a bit on drug interactions with herbs. You won't be disappointed.

Contradictory Information
I am an herbalist and picked up this book to expand my knowledge. I found a lot of it contradictory as one page would say never use this herb for this age but then another page would tell you it is fine. I also disliked the recommendation to use a microwave on wildcrafted herbs to dry them as that is very poor practice and I would be upset to find out any remedies I use came from microwaved herbs. Unrelated to herbs, but the author also suggested forward facing children in carseats to prevent car sickness, which is something I take a serious issue with as well given that we are talking about state laws in some instances and proper safety for children.

Great!
Although there are some basic methods included inside that I wouldn't use (drying herbs in the microwave, for example), overall this book is a must-have if you have children in the house or in your life. I will be purchasing more copies, make some of the very simple and amazing remedies within and giving them as part of gift baskets at all the future baby showers I attend! I'll also be doing the same as Christmas gifts for my grown children with children. It really is such a fantastic guide and ANYONE can make these home remedies to keep in the pantry for your own family. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! Can't say enough! Thank you Demetria Clark!

Newbie to Herbalism
I am a newbie to herbalism. I have a 4-year old daughter and also aspire to heal some of my own ills (including some addressed in this book, ie nausea/seasickness) via herbs. I keep reading this book again and again to glean some new tidbit from the wealth of information. I hope someday this will all be old hat to me, and I will know all the herbs in this guide. Until then, I will keep referencing it as I plan which herbs to buy, where to buy them, and learn more about the world of herbalism.

This was a gift to my Daughter-In-Law. I wanted for her to teach andget my grandchildren used to using teas for them when they are in goodhealth and especially when signs of colds show up. It is great to raisethe children to drink teas. My grandmother gave us teas in the Winter orwhen we had a tummy aches. It is very important and we need to keepthe "soda" away from our children. Thank you.

Great resource for treatment of common ailments naturall
A great resource if you're looking to treat common ailments without the use of commercial medications and help your child feel better using ingredients you have around the house or that you can grow yourself. There are plenty of herbal recipes for many common ailments like stuffy nose, eczema, head lice etc using natural ingredients that are not hard to come by.
