The auger melted on my first try.
I gifted this pasta extruder to family for Mother's Day. We decided video chat today and make pasta together! Sounded like an amazing idea. We watched the video, followed the pasta dough recipe and instructions, made a day of it. My pasta came out perfectly, hers... well, her machine just stopped working. When she took it apart, we noticed that the auger melted into the unit and that is why the pasta machine stopped working. Oi.

Older models beware
Doesn’t fit older model Cuisinart mixers, like the SM-55.

Three Stars
Works well, but the angle makes it tough to keep pasta separate.

This is a review of the process, not the product
The attachment arrived with a broken "wing" on the plastic part which secures the extruder plate to the attachment. This happens from time to time, and wasn't a big deal, until I went to product support.Amazon directed me to the manufacturer's website and asserts that Cuisinart supplies this option. Customer service for Cuisinart directed me back to Amazon, which only offers the option to return the item for a refund, and not to have the damaged part replaced.I don't know whether it's Amazon or Cuisinart which bears the blame for this, but something as simple as a damaged part on a new product should be a simple fix. Instead, the only option I have is to return the item---with the purchase price of more than $100 held by Amazon until the return arrives at their warehouse and is processed---and order a new one.I know that this is part and parcel of ordering items online, but both Amazon and Cuisinart could and should do better than this.
