Under A Shady Tree

I adore Laurie Berkner is my absolute favorite children’s artist of all time. Another mom introduced me to just one song and I was hooked! I’ve given my old CDs to have family try before I paid for a brand new one and just about every time the parent loved the music and it was all their kids wanted to listen. The best part was watching my son at age 4-5 sing the songs to our dog, Murphy, while they would ride down slide together. My son is 18 and will be leaving for college but I will continue to give these as gifts. She helped inspire my son to sing comfortably in front of others. It inspired a fabulous talent he received from my father where he can play the drums, guitar (classically and electronically), the keyboards and the bass guitar To all parents with the way schools are right now from this Covid Pandemic don’t let the schools get rid of these kind activities that children need. I know that having confidence helped my son become an exceptional student, it’s just the same as sports are for some kids. Keep them busy, I know it can be expensive but there are always people willing to sponsor kids so they have the been given a chance. Sorry for being long winded but please do your part in giving back to kids who really truly need some positivity in their lives. I know I will be . My daughters like to listen to music at bedtime, so I got this CD for my daughters because they had heard and liked the songs "Song in My Tummy" and "This Hat" on Nick Jr. When you start the CD, the first song that plays is the title track "Under a Shady Tree". It's a very catchy and upbeat but sweet song. The kids love it. Even my husband likes this CD a lot and starts dancing - or trying to! ;) - when it comes on. Another song is "Drive My Car". It's really cute and funny at the end.Laurie has a very nice voice that is perfect for kid's music, and she sounds like she is having fun while she is singing. If you've ever seen her on Nick Jr, you'll see that she also looks like it too.If you or your kids have ever heard a Laurie Berkner song and liked it, you won't be disappointed in this CD. It's great.

I was tired of cds of kid songs being performed by kids. In the car, the 102 kids songs by a choir of children who think they are God's gift to music all start sounding the same. I saw a commercial for Laurie on TV and wanted to try her out. I am SOOO happy I did. Her voice and musical talents are great. Also, she mixes songs that you already know with songs you've never heard before which is a nice change. But don't worry about some of the songs being new and that maybe you won't take to them.....they'll become your new favorites. You'll forget all about "I've been working on the railroad" and be all about "Buzz buzz buzz"ing!! I highly recommend! The whole family will love it or at least tolerate it (including dad!)

Laurie Berkner is one of my favorite children's composer. I am a music teacher and I have a great deal of fun singing these songs with my Day school students.

Any parent with a small child will know my pain. Kids love things that are familiar and repetition. My daughter wants to listen to this CD over and over again. It gets her signing and rocking back and forth in her car seat, so obviously that makes me happy. At the same time, that repetition of music ends up driving a parent nuts as you end up finding yourself humming the melodies of songs (that for the most part make no sense) to yourself when you are alone, or worse, in the presence of others - who ultimately ask you what you are doing and force you to explain the Rhubarb Pie song.Bottom line is this works for little kids very well and I painfully recommend it.

This CD is fabulous. I have a 7 year old daughter and a 19 month old son. Both just light up when I play it in the car. My daughter loves to sing along while my son just claps and sways to the music. Laurie Berkner's style is so that not only do kids love her music but as an adult I can listen to it without feeling like my head is going to explode after the 50th time listening to it. Her rhythms are diverse and very adult friendly. LOVE HER!!!

My grandkids just love these. They have every Laurie Berkner DVD and play at least one daily. My 5 year old granddaughter knows all the lyrics! Nice thing is that these are not annoying to me. I find myself humming the tunes at the most surprising times. I got this CD because it has a few songs we did not have on DVDs and she can play it when DVD player not handy.

Nice listening in the car, kids LOVE to sing along to it. Songs are catchy and have nice personality to each one.
