First, let's remember this is a hot comb. It's pretty much just a slight step up from a manual and if you have no experience with that, then you will have difficulties handling this comb and getting the desired results. It is entirely different from using a ceramic flat iron and similar styling tools. It actually does take a while to get really hot, but when it does you have to handle it as you would a manual hot comb. Having said that, it works fine for what I needed, which is to get some manageability on very thick hair and not to get it super straight, for which a fine tooth comb would be better suited. Great if you want more of a blow-out effect. But give it time to develop to a higher temperature. It would be nice to be able to control temperature.
