which I love because I like to organize all my stuff instead ...
This backpack rocks! It has soooo many pockets, which I love because I like to organize all my stuff instead of having it all floating around in one spot. And the sizes of all the pockets vary, so there's a perfect place for everything. The bag is nice and big without being obnoxious, ha. I use it for college where I spend most of the day, so not only do I carry my books, notebooks, planner, various school supplies, and laptop (which it does have a nice padded sleeve for), but I also carry other things like an extra jacket, snacks and water bottle, umbrella, and some personal hygiene products. It fits all of that with even a few pockets left empty. It's very durable too with thick material and a lot of reinforcements. The bottom is a very thick, almost waterproof-like material so I don't worry about it ripping and the arm straps are also reinforced with an extra strip of that thick ribbed type material, so those won't be ripping any time soon either. The only thing about it being so thick and durable is that it is taking a lot to get it broken in, but I would rather have that than it actually breaking so I can't even dock awesome-points for that. It's also very comfortable with a lot of padding and it sits well up on my shoulders so all the weight isn't in just my back, which is important for me since I'm very short and small.Another thing I really like about the bag is the quality and ease of the zippers. It doesn't have that extra piece of fabric covering them, which I like because those are always just inconvenient to me. And the zippers slide really smooth, but are also high quality and I doubt they will break or rip, or do that weird thing where they split, any time soon.Overall, a truly awesome backpack, especially for the price compared to others!

Very happy with this bag **UPDATED**
UPDATE: Original review below. I've now owned and carried this bag for about 2 years. It has gone everywhere with me, 6-7 days a weeks, taken falls and been thoroughly abused. At one point it weighed over 30 pounds for several months and it is finally time to replace it. The rear pocket has ripped into the pocket in front of it, and a hole to the outside has formed just above the zipper. I believe all the flaws it now shows are a result of too much weight and rough treatment. Considering it lasted two years in the conditions I demanded of it, I came here to order another and was shocked to learn I can get the blacked out version for half of what I originally paid. It was a great deal the first time, and now I'm getting a new one for half that cost. I have not regretted this purchase once.Great bag, love the size and number of pockets. I carry it to work daily with my laptop, mouse pad, mouse, and charger. My bag also carries a phone charger, 2 pocket knives, ear buds, my beard comb and balm, vape juice and extra batteries, several pens and markers, bottle of Aleve, and an extra pair of socks. Occasionally I pack a change of clothes and my gaming headset, and it all fits with room to spare. It's comfortable to wear around for long periods, and has more storage space than I know what to do with. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and it gets compliments from time to time. I will recommend this brand to anyone that asks. I've only had to for a couple months, but so far it looks brand new. My laptop is 15.6" gaming MSI, and it fits easily. Has a strap to secure it inside the padded sleeve, and my laptop hasn't taken any damage, despite dropping the bag a couple times. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better laptop backpack.

Rugged, thoughtfully designed, large capacity backpack.
I was searching for a rugged every day backpack for every day use to work and also to travel from Boston to NYC & VT on weekends. Weekdays, I always carry my 15 inch MacBook Pro, an iPad, workout clothes including sneakers, a lunch and snack, an umbrella, sunglasses, phone cables, 3 AnkerMinis and a bottle of water as well as a notebook or binder and occasionally a textbook. This backpack easily accommodates it all while keeping everything separate and orderly. I also find that I am able to adequately pack for a quick two day weekend trip with my computer, iPad, clothes and toiletries.I am drawn to well designed, thoughtfully crafted items that maximize space (think IKEA and Honda Fit). The Targus Drifter II backpack is exceptionally well designed and is my favorite backpack of the last 25 years. The top most pouch is lined with soft fabric to ensure your phone and sunglasses do not get scratched, while taking advantage of the normally wasted space above books and folders in the bag. The main compartments increase and decrease size depending on which one suits your needs for what you are carrying at the time.I was initially concerned by a few of the negative reports that have been posted about this back as of the Summer of 2014. I have been using the bag quite heavily for the last two months and have had none of the problems that were reported. In fact, I am typically so hard on my backpacks that I can not remember one of mine lasting for more than 6 months without a major failure in a zipper, shoulder strap or seam. If the backpack continues to perform, I intend to buy an additional one to have on backup just incase this model is discontinued. I have rarely encountered a backpack that has better suited my needs.
