Dash Devices (Dash 2.1 3G)

I purchased the Trackmate Dash 2.1 3G a few months ago and waited to write the review so I could give it a fair and accurate review without rushing into it. After ordering it from Amazon which flew to my doorstep as usual, I made an appointment with my local stereo installer that has always done great installations at a more than fair price.The Install: Although the installer who did the install of the GPS had not done one for the Trackmate brand, after a quick look at the install instructions, it took him around 45 minutes to get it up and running. Once up and running, I called Trackmate's Support Line because I couldn't see the device showing up on my account. Apparently, they needed to activate/provision the device which they did on the phone and once they did, it was up and running showing the location of the car exactly where it was -- at the Stereo shop. The installer asked me where I would like to hide the unit and where we choose to hide it (in an air conditioning vent), I highly doubt any thief would even consider looking there. It's so far down inside the vent with velcro holding it down, it would be impossible to find unless you knew it was there.The Software: This is where Trackmate shines if you ask me. From being able to setup Geofencing so you know when it leaves or arrives from a specific area or zone which you setup, the minute it does, you can receive both Text and Email notifications. There are so many amazing features inside the tracking software, I could be here all day writing about them. Two of my other favorite features of the software is you can not only look at the route the car was driven on any particular day or days but it will re-enact them on their map by time following the map. Another great feature is you can see how many miles per day, month, or selected time period you have driven. Also, the SIM card that is installed inside the Trackmate uses AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile to track your vehicle depending on which has a stronger signal.Lastly, not only is the price of the Trackmate amazing affordable, the monthly service fee they charge to keep you monitoring your car is very affordable. Not only will your insurance company give you a discount once you let them know you have a tracking device on your car, I look at it as an insurance policy knowing that if my car is stolen, I'm not going to get some small Blue Book Check from my insurance carrier but I'm actually going to get my vehicle back.This product makes Lojack a product of the past.If your reading reviews and trying to figure out the best product for your vehicle, don't consider anybody else. Just buy it and you won't regret it.

Nice product and do what supports...

I am quite disappointed with this device. I just paid $180 to have it installed yesterday and the device wouldn't activate until I called TrackMate (even though I completed the activation process online). TrackMate rep. told me that sometimes the unit needs to be nudged a little to activate it. The unit worked well for an hour and then it wouldn't track in real-time. There is sometimes several hours of delay with the tracking information being recorded. I called TrackMate and I felt that they rushed me off the phone and said call us back tomorrow if the problem doesn't get fixed overnight. The unit worked a little bit today and once again there has been a significant delay in the tracking information not being available. I was upset when a rep. told me that this unit is designed to work on T-Mobile and AT&T cell phone towers. The only reliable service in our area is Verizon and I would not have purchased this product knowing it doesn't work on Verizon. I told TrackMate that this information regarding the transmission was not on Amazon or TrackMate website. The rep. told me that that information is listed on both Amazon and TrackMate. Well, I checked again today and it is NOT on either site. I like the unit when it works but when it is not working (which seems to be most of the time), I am totally frustrated. The sales rep. didn't want to talk to me today either which made me concerned too.

The wiring diagram is crap. Too small to read. Wire colors are wrong. The relay provided has completely different color wires. There's 2 wires on the GPS unit that are not described at all. I'm using it as a theft recovery devise. I spent 4 hours installing it and it doesn't work. I had to guess where the antenna connections go because the instructions and unit names don't match. The led lights blinking would be helpful to figure out what's wrong but there's no reference at all as to what they mean. Thru process of elimination I figured out which wires I needed. So far I'm disappointed. No tech support because it's after 1 pm on a friday........

so far the customer service has been awesome set up was great with written an a VjO to match instructions //i bought this product because i am building a jeep an looking at all the alam systems out there a noise maker is nothing but just that a noise maker i wanted to know were my jeep was at all times if it moved i wanted to know an if someone grab it with a toe truck i want to beable to track an recover my 2 year build to say i sleep eazer now would be a understatment thanks trackmate for a KISS product an customer service

Comes in a 8x6x2 box with Comp. Logo. Contents: solid unit well build (although mine has a small chime/rattle inside, perhaps there is something loose?), made of sturdy metal-like material not plastic or melted barbies. The left part of unit contains the Sim tray & wire components. The right contains right GPS input and GSM input. Also contains the relay components and wire to Trackmaster unit, and GPS antenna and GSM antenna. Have not installed it yet. Will update when I do.

The product does exactly as advertised. What brought me here was their customer service. As any product trouble shooting may be necessary, with this product I was able to get personal and knowledgeable assistance. The representative was so invested in finding a solution that he requested an update after I ran all the steps he asked whether or not it was fixed.

I dont know what is going on.Trying to register my device on trackmategps.com,fill up everything correctly and when I want to press register button nothing happen.Its freeze.Support do not work on Saturdays!?This must be a joke..UpdateTrackmategps take care for mine registration issues.Works good now.Thanks..stars up
