2Pcs KW3A Normally Open Microwave Oven Door Micro Switch DR52

When my microwave stopped working I thought it has simply reached the end of its life expectancy, but then I decided to do a little Youtube research, and found that the problem was just a simple fix that I could do myself. I ordered this switch, followed the simple Youtube video, and in less than 30 minutes, my microwave was working again. I even have an extra switch left for any future repair. Great product.

The switch fit perfectly to replace a cutoff switch on a space heater. The switch shuts off the heater if it would tip over.

It looks good and very responsive when pressing the switch point. But when trying to replace the existing one in the microwave oven , it is too hard to push in. Comparing this with old one, I found the connecting metal is too thick. If you push too hard, it could break something. The solution I tried is to use the old switch to wiggle the connecting point to make it wider to allow the new switch in. It is still not very easy, but workable if proceed slowly.

These micro switches were easy to install several years ago in Kenmore microwave oven as the original switches failed after six years, they lasted 7 years and ended replacing all three switches in March 2025, microwave oven is fully operational as of April 2025.

I found this item at a bargain price while the local repair store tried to charge 3 times the online price. It is working perfectly with my Whirlpool microwave.

The switch fit perfectly into my 3 year old LG microwave. For $8 and change, I had it in and running within 30 minutes of receiving it from Amazon and saved many dollars for "professional" repair or possible replacement. I bought the switch purely on the basis of photos and description of function (normally open) as seen on the website. I have a tip for microwave users. Stop the microwave using the Pause/Clear button rather than just opening the door while it is running. This will prevent this switch breaking contact while conducting current and make it last much longer.

If the fuse still blows after changing the switches, check to see if the switch holder is worn out where the door plungers pop into the holder. Mine was worn out as it’s just a thin bit of plastic that gets eroded away. I could see the grooves. I replaced the switch holder and it worked perfectly.
