can this be used to increase speed aswell?

No, it can not increase the rotating speed, the gearbox has the self-lock function, only the worm (input shaft) drives the worm wheel(output shaft), and oppositely (worm wheel drive worm) the gears would be bind up.

Quality Construction and smooth Operation

Just what I needed to get the desired rotation speed for a plastic prism disc through which a LASER is fired to create a light show. The timer motor spins much too fast, so this gear reduction box slows it down to a perfect speed.
