Will the ZEN thermostat work with a humidifier?

No, only way to set it up through your home automation system and manually set rules- the zen does not have inputs for it

Very much so. The LED brightness is adjustable to a very high level -- way higher than I keep it at.

Does anyone have a single stage heat pump with this system and the auxiliary heat working?

I have a ZEN working with single stage heat pump and emergency, and auxiliary heat working. 31L was my code

Does this wok directly with echo show? can i connect without use of a smarthub?

You need a hub to connect with zigbee protocol to the thermostat. Echo can control the thermostat once the skill is enabled through your smart hub ; at least that was my experience.
