Can someone give me a rundown on the software that's included with this? Enhancements/levels/settings, etc. Does it have a graphic equalizer?

is  EAX positional audio 5.1 supported in games on the digital optic output ?
do movies play in 5.1 dolby on the optic output ?
I got the  MB2 software for the  notebook but  EAX is only detected as software EAX, so alchamy most of the time is useless with the MB2 from  creative.
Does this  X-Fi HD usb truely act like …

thanks everyone, bummer to hear that....rats....I see from reviews it does other stuff really good, but I kinda thoughtit was a full featured x-Fi game unit too.***jan 20 2013  updateyour answers here convinced me to go with the  x-Fi 5.1 Probecause it acts more like an internal sound card.The I\O is the same as the internal x-Fi extreme gamer card.( minus the 7.1 )the  x-Fi 5.1 Pro  usb  just arrived.The EAX never works right on  XP32I already had the creative  MB2( windows 7 only ) EAX software running.The x-Fi Pro box uses the MB2 EAX and gives full 5.0 HD supportwith 129 3D channels.The CD came with Dolby Digital Live.it gives 5.1 positional audio on XP, If the analogue 5.1 jacks are used.windows 7 gives  5.1 positional audio on the optic and 5.1 jacks, user choice.So the x-Fi 5.1 Pro  is most like an internal sound card for the notebookor any PC .After reading many reviews and your answers here, I had to pass on the  x-Fi HD .Creative dot com   info makes it difficult to choose.as it turns out, the x-Fi 5.1 Pro version 1095 , is great forgames movies and music.I have not tried to record line in with this box( mini phono jack , does it have a RIAA Eq. ? even though the manual shows  a turn table connecting to the line in  there is no mention of RIAA  with this box )One thing I have learned from creative dot comIf they don't say it, it probably doesn't do it.But I can't totally beleive that either, because programsdo detect  EAX 64 3D channels with the x-Fi Pro box, butcreative says nothing about EAX for this box. seeeeeee .That's why I asked here,  thanks.The  x-Fi HD does cost more,guessing they put extra quality parts inside.***The recon3D isn't gonna do it either( no optic out )The main use was for a notebook, to give it "desk top" status.realTek audio...grrrrr

Will this device function on a usb bus? i have limited usb ports (3) and would like a additional ports to use sometimes.

Yes.  I have mine plugged into a 4-port USB hub, which is connected to another 7-port USB hub.  Works fine with minimal signal delay.

Can I go from Digital Audio In to line out(headphones)?

Yes, but it only has an optical (digital) input (i.e. no digital coaxial input). Note use of headphone jack turns the line out off.
