The Vigilant PPS-PA140 alarm is small enough to be used as a purse alarm, with a bright flashing high intensity emergency light that also can be used as a stand-alone flashlight. It has a belt clip in case you need to take it along for an outside walk, and an included "keychain" to securely clip the alarm it inside of a purse, briefcase or backpack. The only thing that's not versatile is how a potential assailant can silence it... as the only way to stop the alarm is to get the grenade-style wrist strap pin back into the alarm. The PPS-PA140 comes with a 9-volt battery (included), and the battery compartment is secured by 2 micro sized philips screws to prevent disabling of the power source. We test alarms for a living. This one is painfully, brutally loud. The high pitched siren scream from the PPS-PA140 is best in class. Personal alarms are one of the most fastest growing segments at retail in the self defense industry, because an attacker's worst enemy is attention. Personal alarms are legal to carry in all 50 states (even on airplanes!) and are a very secure method of self defense. They require no training or skill to operate, and can be used by anyone regardless of age or physical ability.
