Stone Creek Trading Beginner's Fermenting Kit - 10L (Small)

This kit is OK. Definitely everything one needs to start fermenting. The crock is fairly thin and I wouldnt feel safe hammering down on cabbage in there...I feel like it could crack easily. I was hoping for a bit thicker and more robust like old school crocks, but this is pretty much what is out there now. The water seal is good and the lid is very thin. I hit it and it rang like a bell...meaning it is very thin. The lid needs to be treated like a Christmas ornament or it will certainly chip and crack. The crock works well, just have to be extremely careful moving it around...I think a small bump against something hard would definitely break it. The accessories are good and I like the shredder. I have a small plastic mandolin one with ceramic blades and I feel this wood one is better made. The pot is a good design and the glazing is nice...didnt see any defects in mine. Like I said, it is relatively thin walled and I would be very careful washing it in the sink...hitting it against the inside of a heavy sink would probably crack it. I would still rather this pot than using glass jars or other types of fermenting pots...the cheaper ceramic pots are worse than this one.
