Great Design / Nice Enclosure
While I cannot attest to the functional life span of this product, as I have only received it today, I can offer some observations about the construction and design of this enclosure. This hard drive enclosure accommodates a 2.5 inch HDD with a standard 22 pin (7+15) SATA interface. It is extremely well designed and a little smaller (4.84 x 3.03 x 0.55 inches) than many other enclosures. The body is a solid feeling aluminum extrusion with rounded sides and has plastic end caps. A 12 inch USB 3.0 data cable is included. The rear end cap slides off to one side to release the enclosed plastic support tray which also contains the interface and electronics. The HDD is inserted easily into the connector and is then lowered/tilted into the support tray. It can then be secured into the support tray with the (4) supplied screws. The assembled support tray and drive are then re-inserted into the body of the enclosure from the front and secured by sliding the rear end cap back into place. The entire procedure takes less than 5 minutes, but you will need a small Phillips screwdriver. Two small (.5 x .25 inches) self-adhesive foam pads are supplied, but not mentioned in the instructions. I assume they could be used to cushion a 7mm drive, whereas my 9.5mm drive needed no cushioning. With the drive secured to the support tray the drive does not move around inside the enclosure at all. I placed the two pads on the rear end of the support tray to provide extra tension to keep the end cap from accidentally sliding open, although I don't think that doing so was necessary. Another feature I really like about this enclosure is the large ( 1/16 x 1/4 inch) green activity light which is visible on the top of the enclosure. It is much easier to see than the tiny blue lights found on the end cap of some enclosures. This is a terrific enclosure at a very reasonable price and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice looking HDD enclosure for a 2.5 inch drive. I would like to see additional colors offered besides black.

Works well for the price!
I bought this since having a spare 500 GB hard drive eating up dust deserved a new home and use as an external backup drive. The case itself looks good and sort of on the cheap side, at least for the price. It does have aluminum and a bit of plastic. I wouldn't recommend dropping it though, so take extra care.Assembly is relatively straightforward: use your fingers to squeeze and remove the tray, and use the orientation of the port to connect the drive, then insert back in. The fitment may be kind of a mixed bag to some since mine rattles a bit, but isn't too annoying. The supplied cable connection is snug and wiggle-free. No intermittent disconnections so far. This cable is a must for connecting to other devices and you cannot access the drive if you lose it, or you will have to buy another one.My 500 GB hard drive was actually encrypted so I did a full format and deleted the volumes. I have tested it on my Windows computers and MacBook (USB-C to USB adapter), and it detected the hard drive immediately and lets me use it.Great way to have extra external storage using a well made 8 dollar enclosure!

My go-to for a great performing, toolless enclosure for 2.5" drives
I have purchase three of these so far and they all work great. All pros for me, no cons including:- Toolless design makes it easy to change drives in seconds- Great throughput on my all my systems that support USB 3.0- UASP allows you to get most out of using SSDs in this enclosure- Has supported any drive I have thrown at it- Works well with power management features of Windows 10- InexpensiveA fantastic value enclosure.

Sleek Design
This item has a sleek metal chasis. It looks good and it feels good but it's an SSD/HDD enclosure which, when in use, is placed on a desk or table close to your laptop/desktop - You most likely won't be holding it in your hand while using it. I think the designers missed the mark on this point because when you set it down, it just slides all over the place with the slightest touch. It needs rubber footies or something with a slight grip. Also the LED is super bright (too bright in my opinion). It works very well with no technical issues though. Tool-free design means it should be easy to open and close but this one pinches your fingers against the sharp metal corners. Overall I like it but it could be better with a few minor improvements.

The Best 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure in the Market.
Here are the "good" and "bad" on this product...ADVANTAGES.1. Among the available USB 3.0 2.5" hard drive enclosures, this was the highest rated among users..2. The design is a marvel in simplicity and functionality. There are only three pieces: an aluminum box, a simple plastic cradle to install the 2.5" hard drive, and USB 3.0 cable..3. The unit is durable. The aluminum case is hard and inflexible..4. The $10 price is on the "low end" for hard drive enclosures..5. It is a "plug and play" device. No software drivers are needed..6. The product is small, thin, and light in weight...DISADVANTAGES.1. A already formatted hard drive was inserted into the enclosure. My computer failed to recognize its existence. For this reason, the hard drive was reformatted inside the product..2. It is not shock resistant...------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------..UPDATE: To save a $1, I made the error of buying ORICO and FLUJO. The former died within three months, and the latter was erratic in speed. In the end, I went back to SEATAY. The product was still dependable, durable, and functional as always. I will never make that mistake again.
